Afghan Peace Builders Humanitarian Organization APBHO has emerged as a non-governmental, non-political, not-for-profit organization in April 2019 with its long experience as a team (Youth Council) advocating for the rights of communities especially children and women affected by conflicts, and humanitarian crisis in fragile settings.

Job Summary

The Social Organizer is responsible for engaging and mobilizing community members, including Persons of Concern (PoCs), to ensure their active participation in greenhouse-based livelihood interventions. The role includes facilitating inclusive community involvement, supporting the sustainable implementation and monitoring of greenhouse activities, and strengthening the link between beneficiaries' agricultural products and local markets to enhance income generation and self-reliance.

The duties and responsibilities of a social organizer

  • Conduct field assessments and facilitate Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) with community members, leaders, and relevant groups to build trust, raise awareness, and gather insights related to the planned livelihood activities.
  • Coordinate closely with community leaders, local authorities, and other humanitarian actors.
  • Carry out the identification, selection, and verification of beneficiaries for the greenhouse intervention in alignment with the defined criteria.
  • Mobilizing beneficiaries for training and participation in greenhouse activities.
  • Visit greenhouse sites regularly to check progress, collect feedback, and report issues.
  • Support and coordinate activities within the shared greenhouse allocated to six beneficiaries, ensuring inclusive participation, cooperation among members, and sustainable management of the greenhouse resources.
  • Document success stories, beneficiary feedback, and community impact.
  • Conduct regular field visits to monitor greenhouse activities, engage with beneficiaries, and provide on-site support.
  • Prepare and submit daily progress reports to the Project Coordinator, highlighting key updates, challenges, and recommendations.
  • Facilitate market linkages to connect beneficiaries’ agricultural products with local markets, enhancing income opportunities and sustainability.
  • Ensure proper documentation and filing of all project-related records in accordance with organizational and donor requirements.
  • Perform any other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Project Coordinator to support the effective implementation of project activities.

Job Requirements:

Certifications / Education required

  • Bachelor’s degree in social science, agriculture, or related field preferred.

Professional Experience required

  • At least 3 years of experience in community mobilization or social work with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in the humanitarian sector.

Key Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of greenhouse farming is a strong asset.
  • Strong technical report writing skills. 
  • Strong community mobilization and facilitation skills.
  • Experience working with returnees, IDPs, or marginalized communities.
  • Computer skills.
