Operation Mercy is an international Non-Governmental Organization registered with the Ministry of Economy under Registration Number 190. All Op Mercy Projects are implemented in cooperation and coordination with the Government, the United Nations, and with other International NGO’s.

Major Goal of the Position:   Provide technical supervision and technical training to midwives, nutrition nurses, counsellors, vaccinators and to ensure provision of an effective, quality basic health and nutrition program, and maintain excellent relationships with government bodies and other partners through timely reporting and documentation sharing.   

Key Result Area (KRA) 1:        Team Work and Values – The MCNH Technical Assistant will:

1. Develop and maintain good relationship with all co-workers.
2. Teach and nurture vision, mission and values of Operation Mercy to all health staff and model character building, accountability and understanding in basic health care and training principles.

Key Result Area (KRA) 2:        Project Supervision – The MCNH Technical Assistant will:

1. Ensures that RMNCH, IMAM(SAM), MIYCN, and Vaccination Services are performed according to the BPHS/EPHS standards at Operation Mercy’s supported health facilities.
2. Provides supportive supervision of midwives, nutrition counsellors, nutrition nurses, vaccinators by monitoring and evaluating their work and giving timely feedback.
3. Cooperate and coordinate with MoPH/DoPH Monitoring and Evaluation Teams. Prepare a report of progress, create action plans based on feedback, and follow through to ensure improvements are made.
4. Keep records of all monitoring and evaluation provided, as well as clear documentation of all clinical/technical paperwork related to the basic health centers.
5. Create checklists for midwives, nutrition counsellors, nutrition nurses, vaccinators to encourage ongoing staff development. Visit each clinic weekly to ensure progress towards staff goals.
6. Provide on-the-job-training and refresher course in Family Planning and Maternal Child Health for clinical staff.
7. Attend any relevant RMNCH, IMAM(SAM), MIYCN meetings as necessary.
8. Fill in for clinical staff on leave as needed.

Key Result Area (KRA) 3:        Project Administration Support – The MCNH Technical Assistant will:

1. Ensure timely submission of all clinical reports to Project Management for government departments and partners
2. Support Technical Manager in requesting SAM supplies from UNICEF, and in ensuring stock is available when and where it is needed
3. Maintains operations by following policies and procedures, including data protection.
4. Assist Project Managers with financial processes as needed.
5. Assist with request and collection of medicines and medical supplies for the clinic.

Key Result Area (KRA) 4:        Data Collection and Analysis – The MCNH Technical Assistant will:

1. Ensure that all data from all clinical services in our clinics is collected, processed and analyzed so that it is available for monitoring and reports.
2. Reviews data for deficiencies, resolves discrepancies by communicating with and/or returning incomplete documents to the appropriate team leader for resolution and correcting data entry as needed.
3. Regularly looks at feedback collected and organizes it into a usable format for responding and informs appropriate persons on responses that need to be given to beneficiaries.

Key Result Area (KRA) 5:                    Personal Growth – The MCNH Technical Assistant will:

1. Maintain a good relationship with his/her co-workers and superiors.
2. Be open to learn from others, both local and expatriate.

• 2 years of work experience with National/International NGO’s in Health Projects in a similar position
• 2 years of work experience related to RMNCH, MIYCN, IMAM/SAM, EPI

• Written and spoken Dari, Pashtu, and English

Work conditions:

This position is based at the Operation Mercy office in Kabul, but the employee is expected to travel to the field sites to provide supervision, assistance and to support improved quality of reporting.
