About ACBAR:

Agency Coordinating Body for Afghan Relief and Development, ACBAR, is an independent forum founded in 1988 in response to the demand from NGOs working with Afghan refugees in Pakistan and across the border in Afghanistan to more efficiently coordinate assistance and delivery of services. With its main office in Kabul since 2002, ACBAR brings together 211 National and International NGOs working in all sectors of humanitarian assistance and development in Afghanistan. Based on the 3 pillars of Information and CoordinationAdvocacy and Enabling Environment, and Capacity Building, ACBAR’s activities focus heavily on sharing information with members, coordination of members and the aid community in general, at the national and regional levels, and carrying out advocacy on issues affecting the work of its members and other I/NNGO in Afghanistan. ACBAR has a mission to provide an efficient platform for members to carry out effective humanitarian and development activities in Afghanistan. The members are the drive behind ACBAR, and their active participation is essential to ACBAR’s continuous dynamism.

Job Descriptions:

Information Management and Documentation

  • Draft, edit, and finalise accurate, highquality meeting minutes for ACBAR coordination meetings, working groups, and consultations.
  • Maintain a systematic archive of meeting notes, participant lists, and official correspondence.
  • Summarise complex discussions into clear, actionable points for internal and external distribution.
  • Support the development of information products, briefing notes, and periodic reports.
  • In close coordination with Information Coordination Manager and ACBAR SMT to develop ACBAR monthly meetings schedules.

Translation and Language Support

  • Provide oral and written translation from Dari and Pashto into English and vice versa during meetings, workshops, and communications.
  • Ensure the accuracy and cultural appropriateness of translations, especially for technical and policyrelated content.
  • Review and proofread translations from external providers or team members to ensure quality control.

Coordination Support

  • Support the Coordination Manager and Working Group Leads in organising and facilitating ACBAR coordination meetings and events.
  • Liaise with NGO focal points, government officials, and UN representatives to coordinate participation, prepare agendas, and circulate relevant documentation.
  • Ensure logistical arrangements for meetings are efficiently managed.
  • Support preparation of presentations, infographics, or visual summarize for meetings and reports.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Act as a first point of contact for coordinationrelated information requests from NGOs, authorities, and international actors.
  • Represent ACBAR professionally and diplomatically in external communications and during meetings with diverse stakeholders.
  • Support the organization of stakeholder mapping exercises and contact list updates to improve outreach

Cross-Cutting Tasks

  • Support the development and maintenance of ACBAR’s online coordination calendars and distribution lists.
  • Uphold confidentiality protocols for sensitive discussions and materials.
  • Contribute to the broader ACBAR team’s initiatives as required.
  • Provide support in compiling content for newsletters, bulletins, or social media posts related to coordination activities.
  • Any other task assigned by the line manager

Job Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in International Relations, English Literature, Development Studies, Political Science, Law, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in administrative, coordination, reporting, or communication roles, preferably within an NGO, UN agency, or coordination body.
  • Prior experience drafting professionallevel English reports and minutes is essential.
  • Experience in liaising with government officials, UN agencies, and NGO representatives is highly desirable.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Excellent written and spoken English (nearnative proficiency required).
  • Professional proficiency in Dari and Pashto (both oral and written).
  • Strong drafting and summarisation skills.
  • Attention to detail and high standard of accuracy in documentation and translation.
  • Strong interpersonal and diplomatic communication skills.

 Strong analysis skills:

  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and online meeting platforms.
