Safeguarding:

The HALO Trust, as an ethical and humanitarian charity, is dedicated to establishing a secure and trustworthy environment for all individuals associated with the organization, including beneficiaries, staff, and volunteers. The commitment to safeguarding and promoting well-being involves protection from various forms of harm such as abuse, neglect, and exploitation. The charity sets minimum standards for staff conduct, emphasizing respectful and professional interactions, with a zero tolerance of misconduct. Specific guidelines include obtaining parental consent before engaging with or photographing children, prohibiting all forms of harassment and exploitation, and addressing any breaches confidentially. For risk education sessions involving children, voluntary consent is required, and HALO strictly prohibits coercive practices. The organization encourages reporting of bullying or harassment, with mechanisms in place for confidentiality. HALO's gender policy aligns with the country-wide strategy, and it staunchly opposes violence and sexual abuse in the working environment, pledging prosecution in accordance with Afghan laws.
