Job Summary:

Enhance ActionAid’s visibility within the ActionAid Federation as well as for external Audience through content creation, engagement with external stakeholders and mass and social Media Presence

Job Responsibility 01:  Develop and Strengthen ActionAid Afghanistan’s Communication Strategy

Tasks

1. 1. Analyze the Current communication setup with ActionAid Afghanistan
   2. Develop and strengthen Communication strategy for ActionAid Afghanistan based on ActionAid International Communications strategy
2. 1. Develop and maintain excellent relationships with key national and international journalists, ActionAid International Communications team.
   2. Act As the key liaison with media houses
   3. Engage with the media houses to highlight development issues in the context of Afghanistan.
   4. Conduct periodic field visits to interview staff and beneficiaries.
   5. Work with CD, Head of Programmes to determine our remit for media engagement.
   6. Provide regular programme updates to our donors and partners.
   7. Strengthen ActionAid’s presence in social media sphere.
   8. Participate in key external groups linked to media and communications.
   9. Develop Monthly Newsletters for ActionAid Afghanistan.

   10. Engage with ActionAid International Media Team to understand and implement ActionAid’s Communication Strategy

       3.2 Participate in all Meetings organized by the ActionAid International Communication and Media Team

       3.3 Keep supplying with content and stories to the international team based on ActionAid’s work priorities on Women’s Rights, Food Security, Resilience & Emergency response and strengthening Public Services

       3.4 Closely Coordinate with program and rest of the Team to collect content for human interest stories.

   11. Work with Programme Managers in the Country to determine key areas of content creation.

       4.2 Research, Write and develop stories and case studies based on our work.

       4.3 Design and Publish stories for our Social Media handles for wider dissemination.

       4.4 Strengthen our Social Media Presence through constant flow of human interest stories.

       4.5 Create Visual Content using very basic devices like Mobile phones

   12. Build Capacity of Programme Staff and partners on story gathering.

       5.2 Build Capacity of staff in using limited means to take good visuals for a story.

       5.3 Develop skills and expertise of the sponsorship communication team to build a second line

Education & Training:

Essential:

Bachelors’ Degree in a relevant field with significant 4 years’ experience in Communication and Media work

Preference:

Degree in Mass Media & Communications with above experience will be an advantage.

Experience (Number of Years and field of expertise):

• Experience working with and International NGO working in the field of communication.
• Fluent written and spoken English (In addition to Dari and Pashto)
• Experience of working in the field’s journalism, communications and media
• Significant experience in Social Media Engagement
• Skills in Photography

Awareness on Gender and Women’s Rights

Technical Skills

Essential:

• Content Creation
• Social Media Engagement
• Engaging in Mass media / PR and Marketing

Preferred:

• Ability to use simple devices for Video stories

Awareness of using available MS Office 365 software to design publication quality visual
