Islamic Support Aid & Relief Organization (ISAR) is a registered non-governmental, non-for-profit a humanitarian NGO working since 2015 in Afghanistan. ISAR is committed to addressing challenges in education, employment, and humanitarian aid through culturally accepted and Islamic solutions. We run separate orphanages for girls and boys, fully funded, and support various other activities and programs through Zakat, Sadaqat, charitable and humanitarian donations.

Job Descriptions:

The Proposal Writer will be responsible for developing comprehensive and compelling proposals to secure funding for ISAR’s projects and initiatives. This includes researching funding opportunities, collaborating with program staff, and ensuring all proposals align with the organization's mission and goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proposal Development:
  • Write and develop detailed and persuasive funding proposals, concept notes, and grant applications in alignment with ISAR’s strategic objectives.
  • Ensure proposals are tailored to the specific requirements of potential donors, including governments, international organizations, foundations, and private sector entities.
  • Create templates and standard proposal sections to streamline the proposal development process.
     
  • Research and Analysis:
  • Conduct thorough research on potential funding opportunities, including analyzing donor priorities and trends.
  • Stay informed about the latest developments in the humanitarian sector and integrate relevant information into proposals.
     
  • Collaboration and Coordination:
  • Work closely with program staff to gather necessary information and data for proposal development.
  • Coordinate with finance and administrative teams to ensure budgets and financial reports are accurate and align with proposal requirements.
  • Liaise with external partners and stakeholders as needed for collaborative proposals.
     
  • Editing and Review:
  • Edit and proofread proposals for clarity, consistency, and compliance with donor guidelines.
  • Ensure all proposals are submitted in a timely manner and meet all submission requirements.
     
  • Capacity Building:
  • Provide training and support to program staff on proposal writing and donor requirements.
  • Develop internal guidelines and tools for proposal writing and grant management.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in International Development, Business Administration, English, Communications, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in proposal writing, grant writing, or fundraising, preferably within the NGO or humanitarian sector.
  • Proven track record of successfully securing funding from a variety of donors, including governments, international organizations, and foundations.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise, and compelling content.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with the humanitarian context in Afghanistan and knowledge of Islamic funding principles is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with proposal writing software.
