About OCHR (Organization for Coordination of Humanitarian Relief):

OCHR is a nonprofit, nongovernmental organization implementing relief, stabilization, and development programs across Afghanistan. OCHR’s primary advocacy and existence is based on reducing the suffering of Afghanistan’s most vulnerable groups and providing the tools and resources needed to increase their self-sufficiency, focusing on addressing the needs of communities emerging from conflict or natural disaster. OCHR collaborates with a wide range of partners and donors, local organizations, and many others to deliver sustainable services aligned with SDGs and UN triple nexus i.e. to interlink humanitarian, development, and peace.

OCHR program planning and theory of change mainly focus to achieve A-SDGs i.e. its institutional setup and policy documents is founded to recognize and interlink sustainable development and relevant ongoing processes.

Since its establishment, throughout the years OCHR has developed an integrated strategic approach, which addresses the needs of vulnerable people living both in humanitarian and development settings. OCHR's key programmatic and strategic priorities in Afghanistan are;

  • Education.
  • Health.
  • Food Security through agricultural development and livestock.
  • Water Sanitation and Hygiene-WASH.
  • Peace, justice and social development through public awareness and human rights, promoting right-based approaches.
  • Clean energy and environment.

OCHR differ widely in its program planning and strategies—contributing in long-term interventions concerning humanitarian response and sustainable development, and specifically focuses on the ultra-poor communities of Afghanistan enabling them to develop sustainable livelihood through microfinance and re-integration into society.

Job Descriptions:

  • To assist the Project Officer to develop appropriate targeting criteria and mechanisms to ensure the food security needs of identified vulnerable groups are met.
  • Plan and implement food security needs assessment survey and beneficiaries screening and selection for food security interventions.
  • Identify vulnerable families eligible for food assistance according to established selection criteria
  • To assist the Project Officer to conduct and support ongoing monitoring of food security activities, through frequent visits to field sites, to ensure minimum standards for Food Security and progress toward targets.
  • Ensure maintaining of beneficiaries’ data and other documentation as per program management minimum standards, including maintaining the confidentiality of the data.
  • To conduct market assessments to ensure the market functions in the target area.
  • Conduct the meeting with community/or village elders, Malaks, local authorities, and other stakeholders at the field level.
  • Ensure the participation of beneficiaries and communities, particularly those most vulnerable or at-risk, in all stages of the project cycle where appropriate.
  • Coordinate the material loading, transportation, and delivery with logistic and warehouse assistant
  • Prepare weekly, bi-weekly and monthly reports and submit them to the Project Officer.

Job Requirements:

  • 12 grade or high secondary certificate holders (University degree in agriculture, rural development, and business administration will be preferred)
  • Proven experience in community mobilization, monitoring, and reporting
  • Good written and oral Pashto language skills
  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Previous community-based projects implementation experience.
  • Previous experience with national or international organizations.
  • Excellent communication, cooperation, and interpersonal skills
  • Culture and conflict-sensitive
