SSDA was founded to address issues of sustainable peace, security, democracy, human rights, WASH, education, agriculture, health, and development through applying innovative and appropriate approaches, i.e. “Community-Led Total Sanitation (CLTS), School Led Total Sanitation (SLTS), non-violence approach, capacity building and awareness.

Job Summary:

This job announcement is seeking potential candidates/ applicants for the position of CLTS Facilitator (Couple) who will be responsible for the implementation of the CLTS at the district level. The CLTS facilitator (couple) is the grassroots level implementer and liaises with the villagers who can accomplish and achieve the target or bring failures to the project.

 

Job Descriptions:

  • Attend a full course of CLTS training at the central or/and provincial level
  • Implement the CLTS using the Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) tools with the villagers in the target communities.
  • Facilitate sessions with communities in realizing the negative hygienic and sanitary behaviors replaced with positive ones.
  • House-level baseline and end-line survey according to the designed survey forms.
  • Provide the photos of the improved and newly constructed latrines at the start and at the end (before and after the construction/improvement) project.
  • Walk throughout the village and interact with all villagers facilitating a rapid change in the attitude of villagers.
  • Vigorous follow-up from the communities they are triggered.
  • Effective use of IEC materials in the target villages and their follow-up.
  • Conduct hygiene education sessions for the villagers inside the village or at the district or provincial level.
  • Take an active part in the communities/villages triggering process and establishment of the CLTS committee and FHAGs according to the criteria.
  • Conduct community hygiene awareness and sanitary campaigns.
  • Provide technical advice to the villagers in building sanitary latrine
  • Record day-to-day progress made by villagers in their village and report to his/her supervisor.
  • Properly keeping the hard documents of the collected data of the related communities.
  • Assist the CLTS supervisor in arranging and facilitating ODF verification certification and declaration ceremonies at the district and village levels.
  • Provide CLTS supervisor with success stories and photos from special occasions and progresses
  • Accurately reporting the CLTS activities and achievements on a regular basis to the CLTS supervisor.
  • Perform any other identical duty as assigned by the line supervisor.

Job Requirements:

  • The CLTS facilitator should be literate (12 Grade Minimum) (easily reading and writing in the local language/s)
  • Around four years of experience working with communities.
  • Experience in hygiene and sanitation is preferred.
  • Experience in working with community and community mobilization will be given priority.
  • Familiarity with cultures of different Afghan communities
  • Very good interpersonal communication skills
  • Fluency in speaking with villagers.
  • Ability to speak in big gatherings and interact very smoothly and politely.
  • The candidate should be very polite and patient
  • Skills to convince others (villagers/communities people and elders).
  • Must be able to communicate well in the local language/s
  • The skill of working in a team.
  • Preference will be given to the local couple.

a) Education
Grade 12 Graduate (Minumum).


b) Work Experience 
Minimum four years of work experience in a relevant field as a CLTS Facilitator or social development, training design, lesson planning, IEC material/teaching aids development/ training conduction, and facilitation.

c) Communication 

  • Fluency in Pashtu Dari and English
  • Computer literate
  • Effective Communication & Representation Skills
  • Report writing skill

d) Miscellaneous:

  • Ability to work effectively with a range of people, organizations, and cultures across all levels
  • A team player who is able to work collaboratively and under pressure
  • Must travel to the project's target provinces
