UNAMA is a political mission that provides political good offices in Afghanistan; works with and supports the people of Afghanistan; supports the process of peace and reconciliation; monitors and promotes human rights and the protection of civilians in armed conflict; promotes good governance; and encourages regional cooperation. UNAMA was established by the UN Security Council Resolution 1401 in March 2002 at the request of the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. Under the direct supervision of the Chief of Section, the incumbent is responsible for providing administrative and logistical
support on the day-to-day operation of the Section, special projects, and on all requests pertaining to general maintenance,
movement of office furniture, equipment, and containers; monitoring and verifying for payment purposes the performance of
service providers in the areas of general cleaning, laundry and catering including the review and drafting of their contractual
agreements; inspecting and carrying out destruction of all items for write-off as recommended by the Local Property Survey
Board.
