About STARS:

The Skills Training and Rehabilitation Society (STARS) is a non-governmental organization dedicated to humanitarian and development efforts in Afghanistan. It was founded in 1997 by a group of dedicated individuals to serve the country. STARS operates independently and apolitically, with a firm commitment to serving the most vulnerable populations, particularly women and children. Since its establishment, STARS has been steadfast in its mission to contribute to Afghanistan's development in partnership and collaboration with the global community.

STARS is focused on empowering and uplifting marginalized communities, with a particular emphasis on women and children. Through a diverse array of initiatives spanning livelihood development, agriculture, livestock management, education, child protection, healthcare, vocational training, income generation, and sustainable development, STARS strives to address the multifaceted challenges facing Afghan society.

Operating across multiple provinces, STARS engages in holistic efforts to enhance the well-being and resilience of communities. This includes the construction of shelters to provide safe havens for vulnerable women and children, ensuring their protection and security.

Job Description:

GIS Officer will report to the Project Manager and his responsibilities will include but will not be limited to the following:

• Prepare plan in accordance with the project for achieving goals.
• preparing geographical maps for the projects
• preparing geographical maps in the field map and GIS survey for project implementation in the field
• Quality check of the geographical location of collected data by using the GIS and satellite images
• installing the geographic layers into a field map for the surveying of the public infrastructures
• Preparing the geographical maps from the collected data at the end of the project for preparing the final report
• Present the daily, weekly, and monthly reports when necessary and provide information on activities and achievements to the executive management team of the organization.
• Undertake additional tasks assigned by the project manager.

Job Requirements:

• At least a bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, Geomatics, geodesy, Geoinformatics, Remote Sensing and Geo Science.
• At least 3 years’ experience in GIS and Geospatial sector.
• Fluency in the official languages (Pashto and Dari) with working knowledge of reading and writing in English.
• Computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office, and programming expertise will have considered as an advantage for the candidate.
• Advance skills in Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
