Job Descriptions:

Job Purpose (main role of the position):

The Marketing Officer (MO) is responsible for developing and implementing marketing strategies to promote products crafted by beneficiaries of WFP project, including gem crafting, tailoring, fruit and vegetable processing, Dairy product (Qoroot) and wool making. The role involves connecting with potential buyers, creating market linkages, and ensuring the sustainability of the project's economic development initiatives.

The MO supports the producers regarding branding, product distribution, sales, budgeting, and others as per the WFP project criteria and objectives.

Key Working Relationships (horizontal & vertical)

The Marketing officer administratively reports to the APC Ishkashim and technically to FSL PM while maintaining relation and coordination activities with staff of other thematic programs, operational support units, and with project beneficiaries, community members, CDC members and local authorities.

Scope of the Role:

the Marketing Officer is responsible to report to APC in line with Mission East country strategies, vision, mission, and values and/or as per donor required standards. He/ she is responsible to manage VST & SSVC activities and provide technical support in Marketing to program department and conduct regular field visits. He/she is also responsible in capturing learning in Marketing program through the crafting of case studies and anecdotal

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

The Marketing Officer is accountable to fulfill his/her roles and responsibilities in line with Mission East Code of Conduct, values, principles, technical standards, and report to his line manager on defined key performance indicators as follows:

Programme Development and Management:

  • Develop and execute marketing plans to enhance visibility and sales of beneficiary-made products.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with local and national retailers, wholesalers, and individual customers.
  • Ensure access to the local and national market for the products produced by the VST and SSVC producing groups.
  •  Organize promotional events, exhibitions, and workshops to showcase products and crafts.
  •  Collaborate with the production teams to understand product features, potential, and limitations.
  •  Create marketing materials such as brochures, flyers, and digital content to support sales efforts.
  • Conduct market research to identify trends, customer needs, and new market opportunities.
  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and sales activities.
  • Work closely with beneficiaries to understand their skills and capacities, aligning marketing strategies accordingly.
  • Build capacity of both male and female beneficiaries of VST & SSVC activities (in project targeted areas Shughnan, Wakhan, Ishkashim, and Zibak districts) improving their marketing skills in order to have a better access to the market and increasing sells.

Job Requirements:

Requirements Qualifications and skills

  • BSc/BA in Marketing, Business Administration, Agriculture, or related field.
  •  Proven experience in marketing sector particularly in (fruit, dairy, clothes, hand crafts, gems) marketing.
  • Solid understanding of marketing techniques and principles as well as market research and statistical data analysis methods.
  • Proficiency in sales and marketing software, tools, and platforms, such as CRM, email marketing, social media, etc.
  • Excellent communication, familiarity of local languages of Badakhshan province, presentation, negotiation, and persuasion skills
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • High level of creativity, initiative, and innovation
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and to manage multiple tasks and projects.
  • Ability to travel frequently to remote areas to meet producers and customers in different locations.
