Background

Serve Afghanistan is a British NGO with project activities in the regions of Kabul, Jalalabad, Laghman, Kandahar and Parwan. Our 130 Afghan staff is active in the field of disability and community development. Most of our projects have a long-term focus and therefore we value the continued training of our staff and seek to use the talents and optimize the capacities of each individual member of our teams.

Serve Afghanistan is currently working in 12 projects in 5 main sectors which are Inclusive Education for disabled children, Livelihood, Mother, Child Health & Nutrition, Mother Tongue Literacy and Disaster Management.

Job Description:                                                      

Main Duty: To prepare and cook a wide range of Afghan foods, maintaining an excellent standard of hygiene and kitchen safety, Cleaning washing organizing.

Responsibilities:    

1. Prepare food for cooking
2. Cook and serve lunch, and wash all dishes
3. Ensure kitchen and food sanitation
4. Keep kitchen clean and organized
5. Shop for cooking and tea supplies
6. Take care of kitchen utensils
7. Take preventive measures against fire accidents
8. Learn to use fire fighter
9. Have general information about SERVE and procedure of work in kitchen
10. Prepare tea at 10:15am for all staff
11. Ensure that the appropriate clothing, including head wear, is worn at all times in            accordance with the office guidelines
12. Be able to form positive relationships with colleagues
13. Learn how to use and clean relevant equipment
14. Take care of all assets of main office every day.  
15. Clean inside of building.
16. Wash the doors and windows two times a week.
17. Clean of offices and bathrooms.       
18.  Wash the cloths and curtains.
19.  Prepare of wash materiel for bathrooms.
20. To work as Chowkidar if needed

Job Requirements:

1. Able to prepare food according to the menu
2. Literate in Dari and Pashto
3. Know some conversational English
4. 2 year experience in cooking cleaning
