More than a decade later, World Vision Afghanistan’s (WVA) programs have expanded to development sectors such as health, nutrition, WASH, child protection, and education, empowering women to engage in civil and social change through interfaith partnership.

WVA targets the most vulnerable in its interventions; including children, women, Internally Displace Persons (IDPs), and returnee refugees, as well as the most impoverished and marginalized families. These priorities have been chosen to contribute to our Goal of: “Improved survival and well-being of Afghan girls and boys, building the foundations for a better future for Afghan children and their communities.” 

Our work is well established in Herat, Badghis, Ghor, and Faryab provinces in the western region of Afghanistan. We work closely with all levels of society including children, parents, teachers, village councils, religious leaders, ministries, provincial departments, and other national and international agencies.

Job Descriptions:

Job purpose

This is a full-time, grant-funded position with regular travels to targeted districts In Badghis Province. The main responsibility of this position is to support the implementation of a cash assistance project at community level as well as to assist in planning, organizing, implementing and monitoring of the project in the targeting areas. He/she is mainly responsible to deliver the project activities into the field level as such as identifying priority needs, sensitize and mobilize the communities, establishing relationships with community leaders and local government authorities, ensure the proper selection of project beneficiaries, delivery of cash assistance, conduct registration of complaints, ensure proper documentation and conduct follow-ups with beneficiaries.

Major Responsibilities

40% Community engagement  & Coordination

  • Assist in sensitisation of local government structures, communities and traditional authorities on the targeting criteria and identification and registration of the beneficiaries for the delivery of cash assistance
  • Organise the inception and community sensitisation meetings
  • Conducting awareness raising and messaging for affected beneficiaries on the program
  • Participate in weekly/monthly zonal meetings
  • Raise awareness on the use of community feedback mechanisms.
  • Facilitating coordination with authorities for all activities (share information, assist as needed)
  • Coordinate with health sector field staff in identification of the vulnerable beneficiaries

 

40% ​​​​​​​Timely cash assistance delivery 

  • Developing monthly detailed program activity implementation plans for the interventions
  • Conduct the registration of targeting families, ensuring that the data is collected and is recorded appropriately
  • Conducting awareness raising and messaging for affected beneficiaries on the program
  • Work together with the Cash officer on the development of distribution plans
  • Help oversee delivery of cash assistance and  helping ensure the resolution of any problems
  • With guidance from Health Sector Lead, ensure that COVID-19 prevention guidelines are followed in all activities implemented under the project

 

20% Data Collection and Reporting.
- Conducting FGD and survey for the baseline and endline and other survey.
- Responsible for all required technical on projects and ensure that implemented as
required

Documentation of best practices for learning purposes and increase program visibility

Other

  • Adhere to WV Child and Adult Safeguarding policy and standards
  • Adhere to WV accountability standards
  • To be aware and prepared to implement WV Afghanistan Humanitarian and Emergency Affairs plan under the context of Ghor urban and rural interventions

 

Job Requirements:

Knowledge/Qualification for This Role

Required Professional Experience

  1. At least 1 year relevant experiences with community mobilization and sensitization.

2.   Experience in provision of life-saving assistance projects

Required Education, training, license, registration, and certification

  1. At least 14th grade qualification in social studies, agriculture, nutrition, Law, economics.

 

Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications

  1. Humanitarian context knowledge and experience.
  2. Experience in documentation and reporting
  3. Experience working with community leaders (Community Based Structures)
  4. Experience in adult learning methodology and monitoring of training activities
  5. Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  6. Experience in cash transfer /GIK projects an added advantage.
  7. Ability to work as part of a field team.
  8. Very good communication with communities and local authorities.
  9. Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  10. Ability to exhibit exemplary lifestyle as interpreted in specific local cultural context
  11. Able to maintain performance expectations in diverse cultural context, stressful environments and with limited resources
  12. Cross cultural sensitivity, flexible views, emotional maturity and physical stamina.
  13. Demonstrable experience in child protection, child rights
  14. Interpersonal, management and conflict resolution skills.
  15. Results oriented and good team-player
  16. Good computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), internet use and Lotus Notes.

Travel and/or Work Environment Requirement

Ability to travel to selected district in Badgihs

Being in good health and physical

Language Requirements

Able to understand English, Dari or Pashtu
