Afghan Peace Builders Humanitarian Organization APBHO has emerged as a non-governmental, non-political, not-for-profit organization in April 2019 with its long experience as a team (Youth Council) advocating for the rights of communities especially children and women affected by conflicts, and humanitarian crisis in fragile settings.

 

Most of APBHO’s peacebuilding efforts focus on community-based conflict resolution and environmental peace-building on grass-root level.  APBHO aims to shift repressive gender norms and equip citizens with the skills to resolve any type of differences and conflicts non-violently.

 

Afghan Peace Builders Humanitarian Organization (APBHO) strategically implements sustainable economic empowerment/asset creation, time-critical emergency responses with various commodities including Food and Non-Food Items, research, advocacy, and promotion of peace projects with a cross-cutting focus on youth and women.

Job Descriptions:

The Social Organizer for Social and Behavior Change (SBC) Activities is a significant role in the implementation of the project in Samangan Province, focusing on Aybak and Ruy-e-Duab districts. The project aims to strengthen capacity, foster community stakeholder commitment, and promote life-saving behaviors through various interventions targeted at improving health outcomes for pregnant and lactating women and their children under two years old.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Contribute in conduct capacity-building activities at the community level by training community-based structures such as Social Mobilizers (SMs), Religious Leaders (RL), elders, and influencers.
  • Engage in community-level mapping exercises to identify key influencers and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with local influencers to develop and implement localized strategies for community engagement.
  • Organize and facilitate community-level dialogues and roundtable discussions to promote stakeholder commitment and participation.
  • Design contextualized micro plans for social mobilization activities.
  • Coordinate the referral of cases from communities to essential services such as Antenatal Care (ANC), Postnatal Care (PNC), immunization, and other healthcare facilities.
  • Conduct orientation and sensitization sessions for community members on life-saving behaviors.
  • Engage in face-to-face interactive discussions with pregnant and lactating women to promote positive health practices.
  • Establish mechanisms for collecting feedback on project services.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to feedback and queries from community members.
  • Disseminate information on utilizing feedback and complaint mechanisms through various channels including broadcast media, SMS, Leaflets.
  • Provide regular and accurate updates on field activities to the project manager.
  • Participate in training sessions to enhance skills and understanding of project objectives.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to gender equality and cultural sensitivity in all interactions.

Job Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Public Health, Communication, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in social and behavior change communication, social mobilization, community engagement, and capacity building with national/international NGO’s.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse communities.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Familiarity with digital data collection tools and technology e.g. Kobo, ODK and so on is an advantage.
  • Understanding of the cultural context and social dynamics in Samangan Province is an asset.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
