About HEWAD Reconstruction, Health & Humanitarian Assistance Committee

HEWAD is a non-governmental, non-political and non-profitable charity organization established in 1994 to provide Medical, Educational, Social and Humanitarian Assistance to needy people of Afghanistan. HEWAD implements primary health care to needy people of Afghanistan, and within those focuses on the provision of health care to the most vulnerable group, children, and women. HEWAD provides perfect health education, information, and service to Afghans in order to improve their living conditions.

Job Description

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Project Planning and Implementation

  • Asses the current working programs and provides expert direction and establishes sustainable systems which can be managed in the program officer’s absence. 
  • Enhance partnership with local communities and other partners: Develop and maintain strong and cooperative working relationships with Government and implementing partners, particularly National and international partners.
  • Manage and lead the process of the development of detailed action plan in close collaboration with HEWAD main office team and field staff
  • Provide leadership and an overall strategic vision with a view to building national capacities, and foster active partnerships to support achieving project objectives
  • Directly supervise project staff and consultancies and provide effective leadership;
  • Manage and monitor the project risks initially identified, submit risk mitigation plan to the project board for consideration, provide advice on mitigation strategies if required and update the status of these risks by maintaining the project risks log;
  • Prepare quarterly and annual narrative progress reports in line with organization and donor rules and regulations;
  • Responsible to thoroughly understand and communicate stakeholders’ requirements to relevant team members and manage all requirements accordingly.
  • Fully responsible for in field implementation of all project activities as specified in project documents
  • Track the progress and review of project tasks to make sure deadlines are met.
  • Conduct regular follow up meetings with all field staff to get updates on project implementation, discuss challenges and find possible solutions to make sure that the desired targets and indicators are achieved as per the proposed project’s result framework

2. Monitoring & Reporting

  • Conduct regular M&E visits to field, collect data and assist in preparation of reports to program coordinator;
  • Develop and ensure adherence to a detailed implementation plan for M&E activities;
  • Ensure maintenance of information management systems for the indicators;
  • Submit project data and figures as outlined in the project reporting matrix on biweekly basis
  • Submit – on a timely basis – all required project reporting using weekly, monthly, quarterly, and mission and assessment reports

3. Partnership and Coordination

  • Conduct a mapping for the available services providers in provinces/districts in liaison with other project partners in targeted provinces/districts
  • Establish and maintain relationship with local actors, authorities, community leaders and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide support and mentorship to partners for project implementation in compliance with project international standards with the technical support of the Program Coordinator when needed
  • Contribute to the positive image and overall credibility of the organization, notably through the application of the organization’s Code of Conduct and Ethics.

4. Staff Supervision

  • Act as a Team Leader and reference for the specific component of the project;
  • Manage staff and provide regular performance feedback;
  • Develop support strategies for staff and introduce principles of self-care.

Job Requirements

  • University degree in social science or any relevant field is required Master degree is preferred
  • At least five years of working experience in professional project management and technical experience in mentioned project is required and experience in emergency/humanitarian projects is an asset. 
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and analysis skills.
  • Advance computer skill of data collection, processing and analysis is essential and is must.
  • Excellent communication skill in English and local languages (Pashto/Dari) is required.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to rural locations in provinces.
  • Ability to work alongside others under challenging conditions to meet the deadlines.
