More than a decade later, World Vision Afghanistan’s (WVA) programs have expanded to development sectors such as health, nutrition, WASH, child protection, and education, empowering women to engage in civil and social change through interfaith partnership.

WVA targets the most vulnerable in its interventions; including children, women, Internally Displace Persons (IDPs), and returnee refugees, as well as the most impoverished and marginalized families. These priorities have been chosen to contribute to our Goal of: “Improved survival and well-being of Afghan girls and boys, building the foundations for a better future for Afghan children and their communities.” 

Our work is well established in Herat, Badghis, Ghor, and Faryab provinces in the western region of Afghanistan. We work closely with all levels of society including children, parents, teachers, village councils, religious leaders, ministries, provincial departments, and other national and international agencies.

Job Descriptions:

A. Financial Transaction Management:

 

  • Record all financial vouchers in WVA online logs with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Promptly communicate with staff to ensure completion of vouchers and supporting documents.
  • Classify financial transactions accurately based on accounts and apply appropriate coding.
  • Review uploaded transactions in online logs for completeness and readiness for posting.
  • Accrue all transactions promptly upon receipt of information and prepare adjustments as necessary.
  • Ensure timely and accurate updating of ageing reports relevant to respective zones.
  • Analyze complex transactions and make system adjustments as required.
  • Conduct monthly reviews of transactions to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
  • Reconcile physical vouchers with posted transactions to ensure all transactions are accounted for.
  • Create invoices in the system, attach supporting documents, and coordinate with staff for timely processing of payments.

B. Filing, record keeping and scanning.

  • All correspondence with the government, particularly with tax authorities, are filed.
  • Original vendors invoices are filed.
  • Tax payment order, transfer, and TINs are filed.
  • Scanning of financial vouchers and invoices and archiving in shared point including Audit reports, as well as other legal documents
  • Taking the backup of the scanned copies in the hard drive on a weekly basis
  • Reporting on the progress of scanning in the zonal office
  • Collect and fill the manual LDRs for the audit purpose.
  • Facilitate the requested supporting documents to the audit.
  • Review support documents for compliance before submitting the audit.
  • Request the share cost related documents from the R&A unit and share with the audit as required!
  • Ensure update the finance team and supervisor on the document submission.

C. Perform Other Assignments as needed.

  • Internal Control procedures are strictly implemented, and any weakness is identified and reported to your supervisor for correction.
  • Perform any other duties requested by AP TL or Finance Director

Job Requirements:

Experiences:  

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in accounting position with medium business/medium NGO/government agency
  • Experience with humanitarian aid in-country is a plus. 

Education: 

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or Business Administration, Economy or a related field preferred

Preferred Qualifications

Accounting a credible certification

Practical Knowledge of financial systems, budget/cash flow monitoring and internal accounting controls.  Computer aptitude and experience with word processing, database, management and spreadsheet software.  Analytical skills and good attention to details.  Proficiency in written and spoken English and local language Knowledge of MS Office, Lotus Notes and computerized accounting systems Experiences with humanitarian aid in-country is plus.

Flexibility to travel to the zonal offices when required.

Physical Requirements

Ability to work overtime when workload demands and the yearend deadlines.

Language Requirements

Proficient in English both in oral and in writing
