In countries affected by conflict and war, Women for Women International (WfWI) supports the most marginalized women to earn and save money, improve health and well-being, influence decisions in their home and community and connect to networks for support. By utilizing skills, knowledge, and resources, she is able to create sustainable change for herself, her family, and community.

Since 1993, Women for Women International (WfWI) has helped nearly 500,000 marginalized women in countries affected by war and conflict. We directly work with women in several countries (including Afghanistan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Iraq, Kosovo, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Sudan and Palestine), offering support, tools, and access to life-changing skills to move from crisis and poverty to stability and economic self-sufficiency.

Purpose

The Translator and Interpretor will primarily provide English to local language (Dari and Pashto) and Local Language to English translation of correspondence between women program participants in Afghanistan and their sponsors in the US and other countries. The Translator and Interpretor will occasionally translate additional basic documents for the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities

Translate organizational documents as needed

Translation work related to German Application process

Translate the emails, documents and videos of employees in Afghanistan related to German Application process.

Translation:

Translate letters between English and Dari/Pashto and Dari/Pashto to English between program participants in Afghanistan and their sponsors overseas.

Translate stories about program participants.

Any other duties assigned by Supervisor

• Secondary School certificate and or/ Specialized training
• At least two (2) years of relevant work experience
• Strong English to local language skills as well as local language to English written translation skills for non-technical documents.
• Ability to edit and improve translation.

• Knowledge of computers in particular Microsoft Word.
• Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
