Who We Are

Salma Consulting is a research, monitoring, and evaluation firm based in Afghanistan with national and international teams. The team at Salma brings 15+ years of on-the-ground monitoring, evaluation, and research experience in data collection, analysis, M&E, third-party monitoring, and quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods research studies across all 34 provinces of the country. Salma Consulting specialises in conducting MERL studies and engaging with highly marginalised and vulnerable populations and works consistently across various sectors. These include gender and women studies, education, civil society, child protection, migration/displacement, WASH, public health, livelihoods, and emergency response - such as in-cash and in-kind distribution. Salma Consulting has worked on numerous projects with donor agencies and NGOs to support their MERL needs. • Written translation of tools and documents (i.e. reports, scripts, focus groups, KIIs, IDIs, contracts, letters, etc.) from English to Pashto and vice versa.
• Proofreading and editing different documents for printing
• Translating audio files from local languages (Dari/Pashto) into English.
• Interpretation in meetings, workshops and trainings conducted in English language whenever needed.
• Participation in different kinds of meetings.
• Translating and revising translations of all types of text from English to Pashto/Dari and vice versa.
• Support research team in training of surveyors, coordination, supervision of data collection and data entry and write field progress reports
• Performing any other tasks assigned by the program manager

Skills:

• Excellent proficiency in Pashto and English. Proficiency in Dari is a plus point.
• Excellent written and verbal knowledge of from English to Pashto and vice versa
• Very good inter-personal skills in order to express thoughts clearly.
• Able to meet tight deadline.
• Able to work beyond official hours, if needed.
• Ability to travel to districts when needed.
• Research background is preferable.
  Qualifications:

At least 4 years’ experience in translation
