Afghanistan Value Chains Program (AVCP), a USAID-funded program implemented by DAI Global, LLC (DAI), supports the expansion of sustainable agriculture-led economic growth across Afghanistan. AVCP achieves this goal through the support of anchor firms in the livestock and crops value chains. AVCP partners with and supports anchor firms through a market systems development approach, implemented through ‘Deal Notes’ which are co-designed agreements that respond to critical constraints while driving project outcomes. In implementing Deal Notes, AVCP works almost exclusively with agribusinesses and key value chain stakeholders to increase sales, investment, and productivity, among other key indicators. The growth of the anchor firms promotes the efficiency, profitability, and strengthening of the value chains with a direct and positive impact on rural economies, households, and livelihoods. The AVCP focuses its interventions on key value chain leverage points, such as input suppliers or traders linked to large wholesalers, processors, and farmer associations. In doing so, AVCP will accomplish the following fundamental sub-purposes:

Sub-Purpose 1: Increased Productivity and Stability of Value Chains

Sub-Purpose 2: Improved Commercial Viability and Operational Efficiency of Agribusinesses

Sub-Purpose 3: Engage Afghan Women in Agriculture

Sub-Purpose 4: Climate Change Mitigation and Resiliency Strengthened.

The overall objective of this assignment is to enhance the technical knowledge and skills of the technical team of Noor Ahmad Noori Aqcha LTD in the use of carpet designing software (eDesign) and carpet designing techniques to design carpet weaving drawings and produce quality hand-woven carpets.

Tasks (Performance Requirements): The Carpet Designing Software Training Specialist (STTA) is mainly responsible for developing comprehensive training materials and train the technical team of Noor Ahmad Noori Aqcha LTD in the application of carpet designing software, along with this:

• Conduct an assessment to find out the current practice weaknesses of the firm in carpet designing.
• Considering the findings of the assessment, develop an orientation material regarding the E-Design Software (Overview of the software, various applications)
• Deliver practical training on E-design software.
• Assist the participants to produce all the pattern designs to enable the firm to produce different carpets.
• Assist the firm to be able to easily design all the carpet designs meeting the current market and customers’ requirements.
• And other duties assigned by the AVCP, COP or its assignee.  

• At minimum Baccalaureate while bachelor's degree in computer science or other relevant area is preferred.
• At minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
• Proven practical experience, and training in E-Design Carpet Designing Software
• Strong writing, communication, and training skills
• Work experience with carpet industry in the design and software is preferred.
• Fluent Pashto and Dari. 
• Proficiency in written English is required.
