About New Life Organization (NLO):

New Life Organization (NLO) is an Afghan national NGO, registered under registration number 3258 with the Ministry of Economy government of Afghanistan in 2014. Initially, NLO worked with Pashayee Ethnicity in Nuristan, Nangarhar, Laghman, and Kapisa provinces of Afghanistan and supported students, worked with youth and women to empower them through education and livelihood and food security such as supporting income generation activities at a small scale and economic recovery in remote and far away areas of the country. Despite this, NLO conducted volunteer assessments, and monitoring activities on development projects to ensure quality and transparency, and shared findings with the relevant authorities informally but with a positive impact.

NLO supports marginalized and vulnerable communities through food assistance to help people live without losing their lives and to contribute to the local food and market systems rebuilding and rehabilitation. NLO advances livelihood approaches that secure, recover, and build up individuals' and households' abilities to earn and live with dignity. NLO supports engagement in social and economic opportunities that reinforce the adaptive capacity of systems, individuals, families, and communities affected by displacement and prevent repetition of displacement.

The purpose of creating this position is to provide community mobilization-related supports to the implementation of the New Life Organization UNDP grant in the designated province is Kabul. Particularly, the Community Mobilizer will be responsible for effective community mobilization so that project activities are well understood and accepted by the target communities and beneficiaries

Job Descriptions:

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY :

The main area of accountability and responsibility of this post is to support the implementation of the livelihood component of the New Life Organization’s UNDP grant in the designated province of Kabul. Details are below.

  • In support of other project staff, finalize the project locations and project beneficiaries targeting strategy and criteria.
  • Take part in community-based mobilization and sensitization meetings and introduce the livelihood component of the project to target communities.
  • Take part in the process of beneficiary identification and registration. Based on the skills and knowledge of beneficiaries, recommend feasible income generation activities to beneficiaries.
  • Support New Life Organization’s procurement team in the procurement of required goods that will be distributed to selected beneficiaries.
  • Support capacity building of livelihood beneficiaries.
  • livelihood beneficiaries in developing their business plans.
  • Conduct training needs assessment with beneficiaries and support in finalizing the training courses (mainly entrepreneurship) based on the result of needs assessment, and support implementation of training courses for livelihood beneficiaries.
  • Support implementation of project baseline, mid-term, and final evaluation.
  • Collaborate with livelihood officers, Project manager, community mobilizers, and MEAL staff to design community mobilization strategy and project implementation plans.
  • Support the development of Income Generation Activities (IGA) Plans and market linkages for target communities, ensuring youth (women and men), children, and vulnerable groups contribute fully to each plan.
  • Develop project weekly narrative reports and submit them to the Livelihood Officer timely.
  • Assist joint monitoring visits with the government officials (Provincial/district relevant authorities) to the project sites.
  • Support New Life Organization’s MEAL staff in establishing quality project documentation and filing system.
  • Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning

  • Prepare and implement an action plan for quality monitoring
  • Mobilizing and Making communities aware of project objectives, outputs, and vities and, MEAL systems.
  • Facilitate project and activities information at all events such as training and workshops

 

Job Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS 

University degree in development studies, social science, agriculture, economics, or any other relevant technical credential

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Essential

  • Familiarity with livelihood programming especially small businesses for males and females.
  • Maturity and confidence in dealing with the staff of government institutions, and communities.
  • Excellent communication (both oral and written) in English and local languages, people skill slutisolution,negianegotiationputer proficiency, especially related to professional office software packages (Microsoft Office);
