WYFAO’s mission is to empower women and youth through education, health, and livelihood programs. WYFAO works with local communities, government agencies, and international partners to address the needs and challenges of the most vulnerable groups in the country. WYFAO has implemented various projects in different provinces, such as Kabul, Herat, Khost, Paktia, Ghazni, Parwan and Paktika, focusing on areas such as community-based education, vocational training, gender equality, and peacebuilding. WYFAO believes that women and youth are the key agents of change and development in Afghanistan.

Job Descriptions:

Job Summary:

The Teacher Training Officer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating teacher training programs aimed at improving pedagogical skills, classroom management, and overall teaching effectiveness. The Teacher Training Officer will work closely with teachers, school administrators, and education authorities to ensure the successful delivery of training initiatives.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Training Design and Delivery

  • Developing capacity of WYFAO education program stakeholders Teacher Development Centre’s TDCs teachers, PED/DED staff, Hub school teachers, SMS members and CBE teachers.
  • Provision of training to the CBE teachers based on training need assessment.
  • Undertake training need assessment of CBE teachers, SMS members and other stakeholders.
  • Design training material/manuals and conduct trainings in close coordination with Provisional Education Directorate (PED) and District Education Department (DED).
  • To ensure coordination with trainers in terms of planning, materials developing, initiatives with respect to staff and PED and DED officials’ capacity development and Teachers Training.
  • To participate in workshops, seminars & conference organized by the education programme.

Training Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Work closely with the MEAL officials to get feedbacks on CBE training needs.
  • Maintain regular visits to the CBSs, conduct class observations and provide mentoring support to the teachers.
  • Design and implement training follow up mechanism and ensure need-based support and guidance to the teachers, head teachers, students and other beneficiaries.

Teaching and Learning Support

  • Make sure Teaching Kits and other training supplementary materials are properly used in the teaching and learning process.
  • Ensure appropriate use of the teaching and learning equipment and materials in the teaching and learning process.
  • Develop low/no cost teaching and learning materials by involving teachers, students and Education Field Supervisors by using technological support and usage.
  • Produce success stories/case studies and share with communication section through concerned supervisor.

General Responsibilities

  • Submit monthly, weekly and daily work plan to the concern supervisor on regular basis.
  • Actively contribute to the successful development and good reputation of the WYFAO.
  • Strictly follow the WYFAO’s overall policies and regulations.
  • To do any other duties assigned by the line supervisor.

Job Requirements:

Experience/ Education:

  • A bachelor’s degree in education, curriculum development, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in designing and delivering teacher training programs.
  • Previous experience working with teachers, schools, or educational NGOs.
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills with the ability to engage adult learners.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with local education policies, curriculum standards, and teaching methodologies.
  • Understanding of challenges and opportunities in the local education system.

Language Requirements:

  • Fluency in Pashto and Dari; strong knowledge of English is highly required.
