The Aga Khan Foundation, Afghanistan (AKF (Afg)) is an agency of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), a group of international, private, non-denominational development agencies working to improve living conditions and opportunities for people in some of the poorest parts of the developing world. The Network’s organizations have individual mandates that range from the fields of health and education to architecture, rural development and promotion of private-sector enterprise and institutions that seek to empower communities and individuals, usually in disadvantaged circumstances, to improve living conditions and opportunities.
The Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) is a non-denominational international development agency established in 1967 by His Highness the Aga Khan. Its mission is to develop and promote creative solutions to problems that impede social development, primarily in Asia and East Africa. Created as a private, non-profit foundation under Swiss law, it has branches and independent affiliates in 19 countries.
AKF seeks to provide sustainable solutions to long-term problems of poverty, hunger, illiteracy, and ill health. In Afghanistan, AKF works with rural communities in mountainous, remote or resource poor areas to improve quality of life in the areas of natural resource management, market development, governance, education, and health.
POSITION OBJECTIVE
The CD Social Organizer is a member of the CD team based at the area level, providing support to the Regional CD Coordinator on all CD related matters for Implementation of the Day – to – Day Activities of CD program in the district level and supervision of field team.
The goal of the Civil Society and Governance is to promote and strengthen the capacities of local governance and civil society structures in order to establish them as representative, inclusive, competent, transparent and accountable institutions, playing both development and governance roles at their respective levels. The Human and Institutional Development provides a wide range of tailor made, results-oriented capacity building inputs to local governance structures.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Establish good and intimate relationships with key people and community-level influencers in order to gain cooperation and support for the program implementation.
• Encourage community institutions (district-level community institutions) to reconstruct and develop their routine and how to identify, use, and deploy their local resources.
• Supervise transparent and qualified implementation of the community institution Capacity Building Program.
• Efforts to enable community-based institutions to foster understanding, unity, consultation, and coordination between each other, especially with government departments.
• Ensure that reports are prepared in accordance with the work plan previously given on the due date and will be collected and reported to the district.
• Responsibility for obtaining information, training, guidance, etc. from the district program officers.
• Commitment to all district’s villages and elsewhere in the area.
• If problems arise during the implementation process, resolve the issue with the coordination of the District Officer.
• Increase the capability of target community institutions through workshops, training, conferences, and other planned activities.
• Supporting and enhancing community-based institutions for the benefit of the conducted activities of the welfare and benefits of their communities.
• Having a work plan in coordination with the team and district officers for better implementation
• Timely implementation of activities in accordance with the annual plan and program expectations.
• Encouraging community-based institutions to pay attention to women and their needs in the planning and decision-making processes.
• Have a detailed analysis of the impact of the programs on content and timely reporting to the subordinate authorities.
• Have a regular system of maintenance and maintenance of disability information and activities, at the level of any activity.
• Carry out the responsibilities of the role in a way which reflects AKF (Afg)’s commitment to protecting children in accordance with the AKF (Afg) Child Safeguarding Policy and advocates for the rights of children.
OCCASIONAL SIGNIFICANT DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Liaising / Coordinating with the other AKDN Agencies, NGOs and Governmental Agencies in the District as required.
• Any tasks are assigned by the immediate supervisor or senior management at the area office level.
