Under the direct supervision of the Transport Officer (Senior Logistics Assistant) the incumbent shall perform the following duties:
• Perform identical duties as Truck Fleet Driver as indicated below but with the additional responsibilities of: a) Carry responsibility for convoy and drivers and provide leadership and guidance to drivers under the convoy based on procedures/guidelines set by WFP. b) Responsible for communications with designated Radio-room through HF, VHF radio & other means of communication equipment to inform of progress, position and so on regular basis as set by WFP. c) Monitor situation through all possible resources during convoy, report to both designated Radio-room and Transport Officer on any incidents and/or irregular situation and seek advice as when required. d) Ensure that all drivers carry out their tasks and responsibilities in accordance with their job descriptions. e) Responsible for all security issues that may arise and always decide safest option for convoy and use careful judgement to ensure safe passage. f) In the event of breakdown or recovery, decide upon best course of action to recover vehicle in the safest and quickest manner without potential damage/danger being caused by in this exercise. g) Responsible and accountable for funds provided for execution of convoy. h) Assist Transport Officer in planning of any fleet operations as when required.
• Drive assigned vehicle for transporting of authorized cargo, food, and non-food items.
• Ensure quantity and quality of cargo loaded and offloaded is precisely recorded in the waybill and endorse.
• Ensure that the cargo loaded is safely transported to the destination free from contamination, losses, or damage, and held accountable for the same.
• Perform a daily inspection on assigned vehicle and ensure that they are mechanically sound and report any problems or defects to immediate supervisor.
• Ensure that the vehicle assigned is thoroughly cleaned and maintained in a good mechanical condition. DocuSign Envelope ID: DB261AD9-6027-496B-B00F-568D6AF04BB0 Annex II (b) 24
• Ensure that the Vehicle Logbook is duly completed on a daily and timely basis free from errors to maintain good records.
• Ensure that assigned vehicle is always fuelled on time and make sure that the fuel consumption figures are maintained within the established parameters as set by WFP.
• Held responsible and accountable for vehicle and any equipment or accessories given to the driver (and signed for) and ensure that it remains in good condition.
• Drive always in a safe and careful manner with due respect traffic rules/regulation and care for avoiding damages on the assigned vehicle.
• Whilst the vehicle is in the workshop for repairs & maintenance, attend and assist workshop activities as required.
• Travel to only authorized destinations and only load authorized cargo, under no circumstance shall deviate from this unless authorized by Fleet Manager/AO Fleet OIC.
• Read and understand the convoy movement SOP to ensure the safe and appropriate operations of the vehicle.
• Ensure that the steps required by rules and regulations set by WFP are taken in case of involvement in an accident.
• Will perform any other duties as requested by immediate Supervisor
Functional capabilities & Competencies
• Physically fit and health to achieve the duties described in above and age below 65 years old.
Education & Experience:
• Elementary school and driving license for trucks.

• Hold at least 5 years minimum experience preferably 8 years gained in driving of heavy-duty truck in Afghanistan.
Languages:
• Fluent in local language and able to speak and write very essential English words that frequently used for fleet operation.
Organizational Context and Role
• Work in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
• Responsible for convoy and ensure transport/delivery cargo in the form of both Food Items and Non-Food-Items safely in accordance with the Procedures & Normative Guidelines as establish by WFP.
