Unparalleled Community Mobilization and Local Networks: Through our unique Environmental Volunteer Network (EVN), EPTDO maintains an active grassroots presence consisting of over 1,500 registered male and female volunteers across the country. This extensive community network gives EPTDO an unmatched advantage in navigating complex local socio-political environments, building local trust, and executing transparent beneficiary selections.

Furthermore, our volunteer network includes over 680 women leaders. This structure positions EPTDO perfectly to successfully execute the required gender-sensitive components, facilitate safe women’s participation, and run impactful family-level psychosocial and community dialogues despite complex operating landscapes.

The Project Manager will oversee all aspects of the eight-month Tree Plantation Project, from planning and design through implementation, monitoring, and completion. The role requires a bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Rural Development, Environmental Science, Resource Management, Integrated Water Management (IWM), or a related discipline, plus at least two additional years of relevant experience. The Project Manager must have a minimum of three years of project-management experience in watershed management, livelihoods, infrastructure, or related development and agricultural interventions in Afghanistan. They will lead project teams; coordinate with government agencies, local communities, implementing partners, and other stakeholders; and manage work plans, budgets, timelines, monitoring, reporting, and risks. The successful candidate should understand Afghanistan’s local socio-political context, particularly in relation to income-generation activities, and have prior experience implementing projects funded by UNDP or other UN agencies. Through effective leadership, communication, and problem-solving, the Project Manager will ensure activities are delivered on time, within budget, and in line with project objectives and organizational procedures, while promoting community engagement and sustainable results.

·       Develop and manage project work plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocations in line with project objectives.

·       Oversee the planning and implementation of tree plantation activities, ensuring they are technically appropriate and suited to local conditions.

·       Coordinate with government agencies, local communities, implementing partners, and other stakeholders to support effective project delivery.

·       Lead and support project staff, assign responsibilities, monitor performance, and address implementation challenges.

·       Monitor project progress against targets, timelines, and budget; identify risks and take corrective action when needed.

·       Promote community participation and build local capacity to support the sustainability of plantation activities and related livelihoods.

·       Ensure compliance with organizational policies, donor requirements, and relevant environmental and operational standards.

·       Maintain awareness of Afghanistan’s local socio-political context and account for it in project planning and implementation.

·       Prepare regular narrative, technical, and financial progress reports for stakeholders and senior management.

·       Provide weekly and monthly reports to the Executive Director.

·       Any other tasks assigned to him by senior management.
