I. Background on MAGNA:                           

MAGNA is a medical humanitarian organization that has been actively working worldwide and providing humanitarian aid for more than 20 years. Currently, MAGNA implements humanitarian and health interventions in around 15 countries, with some of its largest operations in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Syria, South Sudan, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Ukraine. MAGNA delivers humanitarian assistance through direct engagement with health facilities, local health authorities, and frontline healthcare workers to ensure timely and lifesaving medical care for vulnerable populations affected by emergencies and crises.

MAGNA assists children, women, and vulnerable families affected by natural disasters, armed conflicts, displacement, disease outbreaks, and humanitarian emergencies. In the field, MAGNA deploys qualified doctors, nurses, nutrition staff, psychosocial counsellors, and technical specialists to support integrated humanitarian response and strengthen access to essential health and nutrition services.

MAGNA’s interventions primarily focus on Health, Nutrition, and Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), aiming to save lives, reduce suffering, and improve access to quality healthcare services for crisis-affected communities. Armed conflicts, political instability, displacement, poverty, and weak health systems continue to place millions of people at risk, resulting in increased morbidity, malnutrition, disease outbreaks, and psychological distress. MAGNA prioritizes emergency medical response, outbreak preparedness and response, nutrition services, maternal and child healthcare, MHPSS, and support for underserved and hard-to-reach populations.

MAGNA is currently looking for qualified staff to fill the (Security Officer) in (Kunduz Province).                          

II. Background of program:

In Afghanistan, MAGNA has established a strong operational presence, particularly in the northeastern and southeastern regions. Since January 2026, MAGNA has been implementing the BPHS/HER AF2 project in Kunduz province, supporting 75 health facilities and more than 500 health posts serving over 1.5 million people. The project focuses on integrated primary healthcare services including maternal and newborn health, child health and immunization, nutrition, communicable disease management, MHPSS, referral services, and emergency preparedness and response activities.

MAGNA also has previous emergency response experience in southeastern and eastern Afghanistan. In 2025, MAGNA implemented emergency health and nutrition interventions in Khost province targeting returnees, displaced populations, and vulnerable host communities through integrated mobile and facility-based services. In addition, MAGNA supported emergency response activities following the Kunar earthquake in eastern Afghanistan, providing emergency medical assistance, nutrition support, essential medicines, and psychosocial support services to affected communities in hard-to-reach areas.

MAGNA has a zero-tolerance policy regarding Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (SEA) by its personnel against the people it serves. Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) is the responsibility of all staff members, and all selected candidates are required to fully comply with MAGNA’s PSEA Policy at all times. MAGNA conducts rigorous reference and background checks related to safeguarding, misconduct, and SEA during recruitment processes, and additional verification may be requested throughout the selection process to ensure the highest standards of accountability, integrity, and protection.

Accountabilities:

MAGNA has a zero tolerance policy with regard to Sexual Exploitation and Abuse by MAGNA’s personnel against the people they serve. Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) is the responsibility of everyone and all selected candidates will be required to comply with MAGNA’s PSEA Policy at all times. Selected candidates will therefore undergo rigorous reference and background checks against their past behaviour related to sexual exploitation and abuse, and may be required to provide additional information further on in the selection process

III. Responsibilities

-          Ensure the safety and security of people, property, and assets. 

-          Make sure that staff follow security procedures and guidelines through training programs and assessments.

-          Monitoring public access and ensuring the security of all personnel and visitors.

-          Installing security systems and controls.

-          Inspecting and patrolling premises regularly.

-          Conduct regular security assessments, perimeter checks, and risk evaluations of office and field sites.

-          Monitor entry and exit points, issue visitor passes, and ensure access control compliance.

-          Maintain updated records of guards’ attendance, duty rosters, and patrol schedules.

-          Supervise and train security guards to ensure proper discipline, alertness, and professionalism.

-          Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly security reports to the Security/Operations Manager.

-          Respond promptly to security incidents, emergencies, or alarms and provide incident reports.

-          Support staff in travel security, including route planning and monitoring field missions.

-          Maintain communication with local security networks, community leaders, and law enforcement agencies.

-          Ensure all security equipment, such as CCTV, fire alarms, and communication devices, are operational.

-          Developing, implementing, and maintaining security policies to meet required codes and regulation.

-          Preparing and maintaining all required security and documentation.

-          Creativity and innovation and deploying security technologies.

-          Working collaboratively with corporate security operations and multiple site operation to achieve common project goals and standardization.
