Job Description

  • Monitor network infrastructure, devices, and connectivity using NOC monitoring and management tools.
  • Assist with the monitoring and troubleshooting of Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, and other network devices.
  • Identify network outages, latency, packet loss, and connectivity issues and escalate complex incidents to senior network engineers.
  • Perform basic network troubleshooting using TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, DNS, DHCP, and subnetting concepts.
  • Assist with Cisco device configuration, including VLANs, trunking, access ports, routing protocols, and interface configuration.
  • Monitor network alerts and respond to incidents according to established NOC procedures and SLAs.
  • Perform first-level fault isolation and document troubleshooting steps and resolutions.
  • Maintain accurate records of network incidents, changes, device status, and maintenance activities.
  • Assist with network performance monitoring and identify recurring connectivity or performance issues.
  • Coordinate with network engineers, system administrators, and service providers to resolve network incidents.
  • Support scheduled network maintenance, configuration changes, and device upgrades under supervision.
  • Use Cisco IOS commands and diagnostic tools to verify device health and troubleshoot network problems.
  • Escalate critical incidents promptly and provide clear technical information to senior engineers.
  • Follow network security, change-management, incident-management, and operational procedures.
  • Prepare and update network documentation, topology information, and technical reports.

Job Requirements

Education & Certifications

  • Diploma, GED, or bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Networking, or a related field.
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification preferred.
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) certification preferred or an equivalent level of networking knowledge.
  • Relevant networking certifications such as CompTIA Network+ are an advantage.

Technical Skills

  • Good understanding of TCP/IP, OSI model, IPv4/IPv6, subnetting, DNS, DHCP, NAT, and ARP.
  • Knowledge of Cisco routers and switches and basic Cisco IOS configuration.
  • Understanding of VLANs, trunking, STP, EtherChannel, and inter-VLAN routing.
  • Basic knowledge of routing protocols such as OSPF, EIGRP, and BGP.
  • Ability to perform first-level network troubleshooting and fault isolation.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring and ticketing systems.
  • Basic understanding of network security, firewalls, VPNs, and access control.
  • Ability to use tools such as ping, traceroute, nslookup/dig, and Cisco show/debug commands.
  • Understanding of network monitoring, incident management, escalation procedures, and SLA requirements.

Professional Skills

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to document incidents and troubleshooting activities accurately.
  • Ability to work under pressure and respond to network incidents promptly.
  • Willingness to work 24/7 shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays, where required.
  • Ability to work effectively with network engineers, system administrators, service providers, and other IT teams.
