Job Description:

We are looking for an experienced civil engineers to survey, design, and estimate and monitor the process of digging potable water wells and construction of sanitary latrines in Herat Province. The incumbent will organize and oversee procedures and ensure they are completed and report to the concerned line manager. The civil engineers shall be well-versed in all technical relevant methodologies and procedures and able to coordinate the team for different disciplines to achieve the best results. The ideal candidate will have an analytical mind and great organizational skills as well as project management.

The goal will be to ensure projects deliverables are delivered on time according to requirements and without exceeding budget as well as providing of daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly time table and related reports, in accordance with the project requirements. 

Responsibilities:

• Determine needed resources (manpower, equipment and materials) from start to finish of construction of the project.
• Plan and coordinate the timescales for construction of latrines and digging of wells.
• Acquire equipment and material and monitor stocks to timely handle inadequacies.
• Supervise the survey, design, documentation, reporting and overall implementations
• Evaluate progress and prepare detailed reports from the evaluation and progresses
• Ensure adherence to all health and safety standards and report issues
• Coordination and communication with the project manager at the fields and reviewing of daily logs and reports from the fields  
• Preparation of weekly, monthly and completion reports and submit to the project manager in accordance with the time schedule
• Attending meetings and facilitating the related issues of the project based on the requirements of the project
• Abilities to valuate, analyze and management skills to find out the solution ways for forecasted problems may the project face during the implementation
• Abilities of structural design, analysis and calculations (cost estimation and bill of quantities related with the technical specification)

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor in Civil engineering and structural design abilities
• Proven organizational skills, working with NGOs especially in WASH projects.
• Good communication skills (verbal and written) to manage email communications
• Good knowledge of English language (read, write and speak).
• Good command on national languages (Dari/Pashto).
• Good computer skills and fully proficient in the use of engineering software.
