Modern Idea Educational Organization for Afghans Development (MIEOAD) is an Afghan organization committed to supporting communities through education, capacity-building, women's and youth empowerment, protection, humanitarian assistance, and sustainable development initiatives. MIEOAD works closely with communities and relevant stakeholders to design and implement inclusive, accountable, and practical programs that respond effectively to local needs and priorities

MIEOAD is seeking qualified and motivated MHPSS Facilitators to be based in Maimana City, Faryab Province, with regular travel to project locations across the target districts. The position will support the delivery of safe, inclusive, community-based mental health and psychosocial support activities and contribute to the timely and high-quality implementation of the project.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

·       Support the planning and implementation of assigned MHPSS activities in accordance with approved work plans, organizational policies, technical guidance, and donor requirements.

·       Engage respectfully with women, children, caregivers, community members, local authorities, community leaders, service providers, project participants, partners, and other relevant stakeholders.

·       Mobilize communities and provide clear, accurate information about project objectives, eligibility criteria, activities, schedules, available services, and feedback and complaint channels.

·       Facilitate women- and child-friendly awareness sessions, psychoeducation activities, focus group discussions, and structured psychosocial support sessions using approved materials and methods.

·       Provide Psychological First Aid, supportive listening, and basic non-specialized individual or group psychosocial support within the facilitator's training, competence, and approved scope of practice.

·       Apply trauma-informed, culturally appropriate, gender-sensitive, age-sensitive, disability-inclusive, survivor-centered, and do-no-harm approaches in all interactions and activities.

·       Maintain informed consent, confidentiality, privacy, professional boundaries, and safe handling of sensitive information. Do not provide clinical diagnosis or specialized psychotherapy unless professionally qualified and formally authorized.

·       Identify participants who may require specialized health, mental health, protection, GBV, or child-protection services and facilitate safe, voluntary, confidential, and timely referrals through approved referral pathways.

·       Ensure meaningful and inclusive participation of women, children, persons with disabilities, vulnerable households, and other potentially marginalized groups while considering safety, dignity, and accessibility.

·       Support community mobilization and awareness-raising activities that promote positive coping, reduce stigma, strengthen social support, and encourage appropriate help-seeking behavior.

·       Monitor attendance, participation, feedback, activity progress, and community acceptance of MHPSS services, and follow up with project participants when required and appropriate.

·       Maintain complete and accurate records, including attendance sheets, activity tracking forms, referral records, beneficiary information, field observations, and supporting documents, in line with data-protection requirements.

·       Support monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning activities, including approved data collection, feedback gathering, post-activity follow-up, and contribution to lessons learned.

·       Identify implementation challenges, propose practical solutions, and promptly report protection risks, safeguarding or PSEA concerns, fraud concerns, conflicts, serious distress, or emergencies through the appropriate reporting channels.

·       Prepare and submit timely weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual, and other required activity and progress reports to the MHPSS Project Manager or designated line manager.

·       Participate actively in training, technical supervision, team meetings, reflective practice, coordination meetings, and performance reviews, and apply agreed learning to project activities.

·       Follow all MIEOAD policies and procedures related to safeguarding, PSEA, confidentiality, accountability, anti-fraud, health and safety, data protection, and staff conduct.

·       Perform other job-related duties assigned by the line manager within the scope of the position.

·       Education: Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or another closely related field from a recognized university.

·       Experience: At least two years of relevant professional or community-level experience in MHPSS, psychosocial support, protection, counseling support, or humanitarian and development projects.

·       Technical knowledge: Good understanding of Psychological First Aid, community-based psychosocial support, supportive communication, trauma-informed practice, confidentiality, safeguarding, PSEA, and safe referral pathways.

·       Training: Relevant training in Psychological First Aid, basic psychosocial support, protection, GBV risk mitigation, child safeguarding, or related areas is an advantage.

·       Languages: Excellent written and spoken Dari and/or Pashto is required. Knowledge of relevant local languages in Faryab is an advantage, and basic working knowledge of English is preferred.

·       Computer skills: Ability to use MS Word, Excel, email, and digital data-collection tools.

·       Interpersonal skills: Strong facilitation, active-listening, communication, teamwork, problem-solving, time-management, empathy, and stress-management skills.

·       Field readiness: Ability to work respectfully with diverse communities, maintain professional boundaries, adapt to changing field conditions, and travel regularly to project locations.

·       Local knowledge: Good knowledge of Faryab Province and its districts is an advantage; preference may be given to qualified local candidates.
