Modern Idea Educational Organization for Afghans Development (MIEOAD) is an Afghan organization committed to supporting communities through education, capacity-building, women’s and youth empowerment, protection, humanitarian assistance, and sustainable development initiatives. MIEOAD works closely with communities and relevant stakeholders to design and implement inclusive, accountable, and practical programs that respond effectively to local needs and priorities.

Job Description

MIEOAD is seeking a qualified and motivated Community Mobilizer to be based in Faryab Province, with travel to project locations as required. The Community Mobilizer will support project implementation through effective community engagement and mobilization and contribute to the timely, safe, and high-quality delivery of project activities.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Support the planning and implementation of assigned project activities in accordance with approved work plans, organizational policies, and donor requirements.
  • Mobilize community members and provide clear and accurate information about the project’s objectives, eligibility criteria, activities, schedules, and available feedback and complaint channels.
  • Coordinate respectfully with community members, local authorities, project participants, partners, community committees, and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Identify, establish, and support community committees, and facilitate the training of committee members on their roles and responsibilities.
  • Organize and facilitate community training sessions, workshops, awareness-raising activities, and meetings as required.
  • Plan and conduct solid-waste clean-up campaigns in coordination with communities and relevant project staff, while following required health and safety measures.
  • Conduct household and community surveys, needs assessments, beneficiary identification, and other data-collection activities using approved tools and procedures.
  • Promote the meaningful and inclusive participation of women, persons with disabilities, vulnerable households, and other potentially marginalized groups.
  • Monitor the progress of project activities, community participation, and beneficiaries’ adoption of promoted practices.
  • Identify implementation challenges, propose practical solutions, and promptly report community concerns, protection risks, safeguarding issues, fraud concerns, or conflicts to the Project Officer.
  • Support monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning activities, including data collection and follow-up with project participants.
  • Maintain complete and accurate records, including activity reports, attendance sheets, beneficiary information, survey forms, field observations, and supporting documents.
  • Prepare and submit weekly activity reports and other required field updates to the Project Officer.
  • Follow all MIEOAD policies and procedures related to safeguarding, PSEA, confidentiality, accountability, anti-fraud, health and safety, and staff conduct.
  • Perform other job-related duties assigned by the line manager within the scope of the position.

Job Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Community Development, Education, Sociology, or another relevant field.
  • Experience: At least two years of relevant professional or community-level work experience, preferably in community mobilization or humanitarian and development projects.
  • Technical Knowledge: Good knowledge of community mobilization, social and behaviour change, participatory assessment tools, and local governance structures.
  • Languages: Excellent written and spoken Dari and/or Pashto. Basic working knowledge of English is required.
  • Computer Skills: Ability to use MS Word, Excel, email, and digital data-collection tools.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work respectfully with diverse communities and adapt to changing field conditions.
  • Good knowledge of Faryab Province and its districts is an advantage. Preference may be given to qualified local candidates.
