The company is seeking an experienced and commercially minded Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead the overall restaurant business, drive growth and profitability, and establish strong professional management systems.
2. PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The CEO will be the overall executive leader and principal decision-maker of Chicago Grill & Pizza, responsible for the company’s overall performance, strategy, financial sustainability, growth and operational effectiveness.
The CEO will translate the owners’ strategic direction into practical business plans and ensure that the company operates professionally, efficiently and profitably.
The CEO will have overall executive oversight of the business, while the General Manager will report directly to the CEO and be responsible for day-to-day restaurant operations.
3. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Strategic Leadership
• Develop and implement the company’s short-, medium- and long-term business strategy.
• Establish clear business objectives, priorities and performance targets.
• Identify opportunities for revenue growth, market expansion and new business lines.
• Develop and implement strategies to strengthen the company’s position in the Kabul restaurant market.
• Lead planning for future branch expansion when commercially and financially justified.
• Provide strategic advice and recommendations to the owners.
B. Overall Business Management
• Take overall responsibility for the company’s commercial and operational performance.
• Ensure effective coordination between management functions.
• Establish clear lines of authority, accountability and reporting.
• Monitor business performance against approved budgets, plans and targets.
• Ensure that decisions are based on financial, operational and market information.
• Build a professional management culture focused on accountability, service quality and results.
C. Financial Management and Profitability
• Take overall responsibility for the financial performance and profitability of the business.
• Work closely with Finance to monitor revenue, costs, margins, cash flow and profitability.
• Review monthly management accounts and key financial indicators.
• Ensure effective cost control and prevention of unnecessary expenditure.
• Develop annual budgets and business forecasts for owners’ approval.
• Monitor actual performance against budget and take corrective action where required.
• Ensure appropriate controls over cash, inventory, purchasing and other company assets.
• Identify opportunities to improve margins without compromising food quality or customer experience.
D. Restaurant Operations
• Provide overall executive oversight of restaurant operations.
• Direct and supervise the General Manager through clear objectives and performance expectations.
• Ensure that the GM maintains high standards of food quality, hygiene, customer service and operational efficiency.
• Monitor operational KPIs, sales performance, customer satisfaction and productivity.
• Ensure appropriate staffing levels and effective workforce planning.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and applicable legal requirements.
E. General Manager Oversight
• The GM will report directly to the CEO.
• Set annual and periodic performance objectives for the GM.
• Review the GM’s performance regularly.
• Provide direction, coaching and corrective guidance where necessary.
• Hold the GM accountable for restaurant-level performance.
• Review and approve operational plans submitted by the GM within delegated authority.
• Recommend appointment, promotion, disciplinary action or termination of senior operational staff where appropriate.
F. Sales, Marketing and Business Development
• Develop and oversee the company’s sales and marketing strategy.
• Set sales targets and monitor performance.
• Identify customer segments and opportunities for increasing sales.
• Oversee promotional campaigns, digital marketing, delivery sales and customer retention initiatives.
• Develop partnerships and commercial relationships that support business growth.
• Monitor market trends, competitors and customer preferences.
G. Human Resources and Organizational Development
• Build a high-performing and accountable management team.
• Establish clear job descriptions, responsibilities and performance expectations.
• Ensure appropriate recruitment, training, performance management and staff development.
• Promote professionalism, teamwork and customer-focused behavior.
• Ensure compliance with approved HR policies and employment requirements.
H. Procurement and Supply Chain
• Oversee procurement and supplier management.
• Ensure competitive pricing and appropriate supplier selection.
• Monitor food and packaging costs and wastage.
• Ensure appropriate inventory management and stock controls.
• Maintain professional relationships with key suppliers.
• Ensure procurement decisions provide appropriate value for money and quality.
I. Customer Experience and Brand
• Protect and strengthen the Chicago Grill & Pizza brand.
• Ensure consistent customer experience across all services.
• Monitor customer feedback, complaints and satisfaction.
• Establish and maintain appropriate service standards.
• Ensure consistency in food quality, presentation and brand standards.
J. Risk Management and Compliance
• Identify and manage operational, financial, commercial and reputational risks.
• Ensure appropriate internal controls are established and maintained.
• Ensure the business operates in accordance with applicable laws, regulations and licensing requirements.
• Protect company assets, reputation and confidential information.
4. DECISION-MAKING AUTHORITY
The CEO will have full executive authority over the day-to-day management of the company, within the policies, approved budgets and limits established by the owners.
The CEO will be empowered to make operational, commercial, staffing and management decisions necessary to achieve approved business objectives.
Certain major matters will remain subject to owner/shareholder approval, including but not limited to:
• Changes in ownership or shareholding.
• Opening or acquiring new branches.
• Major capital investments outside the approved budget.
• Significant borrowing or financial commitments.
• Sale or disposal of major company assets.
• Changes to the company’s core business model.
• Major long-term contractual commitments.
• Appointment or removal of the CEO.
• Other matters specifically reserved for the owners.
5. REPORTING AND ACCOUNTABILITY
The CEO will report directly to the Owners/Partners.
The CEO will provide regular reports covering, at minimum:
• Sales and revenue
• Gross margin and profitability
• Cash flow
• Operating expenses
• Food and labor costs
• Inventory and wastage
• Customer satisfaction
• Staff performance
• Marketing performance
• Major risks and issues
• Progress against strategic and operational targets
The CEO will be expected to maintain open, transparent and timely communication with the owners.
6. KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
The CEO’s performance will be assessed against agreed KPIs, which may include:
• Revenue growth
• Gross and net profit margins
• Food and labor cost control
• Cash flow performance
• Customer satisfaction
• Sales growth and repeat customers
• Delivery performance
• Staff productivity and retention
• Inventory and wastage control
• Achievement of approved business plans
• Successful implementation of expansion plans
