Market Intelligence Officer
Position Overview
The market intelligence officer will be based in the Mazar-E- Sharif office and will be responsible for the systematic Collection, monitoring, and analysis of market information to support the company's commercial and strategic Decision-making. The role combines day-to-day market monitoring with structured research to support the launch of New commodities, and requires close, regular engagement with market participants, traders, and relevant Government offices.
Key responsibilities
1. Market Monitoring and intelligence Gathering
Collect, record, and report accurate and timely information from the market on an ongoing basis, covering both Quantitative and qualitative dimensions of market activity.
Quantitative Market Information
• track and record daily/weekly commodity prices across the relevant market(s).
• monitor the number of wagons (rail cars) arriving into the market, including origin, commodity type, and Volume.
• track stock levels approaching or held in the market, including quantities in transit and in storage.
• maintain organized records and datasets of the above for trend analysis and reporting.
Qualitative market information
• observe and report on the sales and purchase behavior of market participants (traders, wholesalers, retailers, And end buyers).
• identify and flag early indications of sudden spikes or drops in demand and supply.
• monitor and report on the availability and entry of new product arrivals in the market.
• track government policy changes affecting the market, including changes in customs clearance procedures, Import/export regulations, tariffs, and related trade policies.
• provide a comprehensive, regular overview of overall market sentiment, including:
– buyer and seller confidence levels and expectations for the near-term market outlook.
– perceived risks, disruptions, or bottlenecks (e.g., border delays, transport constraints, currency
Fluctuations).
– competitor activity and positioning within the market.
– seasonal factors and other events likely to influence supply, demand, or pricing.
• consolidate quantitative and qualitative findings into clear, structured reports (daily, weekly, and monthly as Required) for management.
2. Market Research for New Commodity Launches
Undertake dedicated market research to support the company's evaluation and launch of new commodities, Including:
• identifying and profiling existing and potential customers for the proposed commodity.
• preparing a complete economic model of applicable customs charges and related import/trade costs.
• researching and documenting prevailing market prices for the commodity in question.
• forecasting expected sales volumes based on market research and stakeholder engagement.
• estimating overall market size and growth potential for the commodity.
• compiling findings into a structured research report with recommendations to support the company's go/no-go Decision on new commodity launches.
3. General duties
• build and maintain a network of reliable market contacts and information sources in Mazar-E- Sharif and Surrounding areas.
• conduct regular field visits to markets, border points, and relevant government offices as needed.
• ensure all market data is recorded accurately, consistently, and submitted on time.
• coordinate with relevant internal departments (procurement, sales, finance) to ensure market intelligence Informs business decisions.
• perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Marketing, Economics, Business, or related field.
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in finance, accounting, commodity trading, or import/export.
- Strong knowledge of commodity trading in Mazar-e Sharif market is an advantage.
- Mandatory: Fluency in English (written and spoken) is required for this position.
- Strong Excel and accounting software skills (QuickBooks/SAP or similar).

- High attention to detail and accuracy in data collection and reporting.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet reporting deadlines.
- Willingness to travel locally for field-based data collection.
