Begum Organization for Women (BOW) is an Afghan organization working to improve access to education, health information and health services, psychosocial support, reliable information, and public awareness through media and community-focused programs.

Through its partner media, including Radio Begum and Radio Jawanan, BOW develops and broadcasts educational, health, social, and public awareness content for communities across Afghanistan. BOW also implements field activities focused on strengthening access to health services and supporting the economic empowerment of families.

BOW works with national and international partners to implement programs that respond to the needs of Afghans.

Begum Organization for Women (BOW) is seeking a qualified Climate Change and Environmental Expert & Media Advisor for the project “Climate Impact Now: A Media Campaign for Public Awareness,”.

The expert will provide technical support on climate change and environmental issues, with a strong focus on Afghanistan. The position will support the development of educational content for journalists, advise the media team on climate-related radio programs and Public Service Announcements (PSAs), participate in live radio programs, and provide simple and practical information to audiences.

The expert will also develop a climate change and environmental reporting curriculum for educational videos aimed at strengthening the capacity of journalists and media professionals.

·       Develop a practical climate change and environmental reporting curriculum for journalists, divided into educational modules for training videos.

·       Develop learning objectives, key messages, practical examples, and technical content for each module, with a strong focus on Afghanistan.

·       Prepare or support scripts and PowerPoint presentations for educational videos and review the final materials for technical accuracy.

·       Include Afghanistan-specific examples and explain the impacts of climate change on women, families, livelihoods, health, agriculture, water resources, and communities.

·       Serve as the climate change and environmental technical advisor for weekly radio programs in Dari and Pashto.

·       Advise radio producers and presenters on relevant climate and environmental topics, key messages, questions, and technical information.

·       Participate in live radio programs, respond to listener calls and questions, and explain climate and environmental issues in simple and understandable language.

·       Raise awareness about how climate change and environmental issues affect Afghanistan and what individuals, families, and communities can do to protect the environment and adapt to climate change.

·       Provide relevant regional and global climate information when needed, while keeping the main focus on Afghanistan.

·       Develop and/or review topics, key messages, and scripts for climate-related PSAs.

·       Provide technical input for journalists’ pre- and post-training assessments.

·       Review climate-related project materials and provide technical advice and quality assurance.

·       Participate in relevant project coordination, planning, and content review meetings.
