Extension Worker

Future Generations (FG) is the collective name for an international network of non-governmental organizations including FG Country Programs in Asia and Africa, Future Generations University (FGU) and its alumni in 17 countries, academia, and individual’s experts. The original charitable organization, Future Generations, was established in 1992 for the purpose of learning from, and building upon the world’s most successful examples of community empowerment and social change. It is complemented by the Future Generations Graduate School (Future Generations University) in 2006 in the State of West Virginia with authorization to provide a Master's Degree in Applied Community Change focus on Conservation and Peace building.  The Future Generations Afghanistan (FGA) established in May 2002 and obtained its registration certificate from Ministry of Economy, Government of Afghanistan in October 2005.  Since 2007, FGA has been operational in Eastern Afghanistan, and successfully completed development and humanitarian programs in Nangarhar, Laghman , Kunar, Nuristan, Logar, Wardak, Nimruz, Herat, Kanadahar, Badghis, Panjshir, Bamyan, Helmand & Zabul Provinces

The main purpose of this position is to provide beneficiary selection for agriculture inputs (Wheat seed, Urea and DAP fertilizers, Poultry package, farming tools and making EWS committee) through beneficiary profile survey according to the criteria in close collaboration with district level committee

·        Provide lists in a specific district in coordination with CDCs and district-level Shuras.

• Conducting post-distribution monitoring survey.
•  BPS through KOBO and IDEA web.
• Beneficiary selection for agriculture inputs (Wheat seed, Urea and DAP fertilizers, Poultry package, farming tools and making EWS committee) through beneficiary profile survey according to the criteria in close collaboration with district-level committee.
• Build and maintain a network with district-level governmental and non-governmental authorities
• Extension Workers will attend meetings at the district level and prepare reports to the Provincial Manager.
• Take an active part in the agriculture input distribution process, and make sure the process is smooth and safe.
  • Provide and deliver technical advice/trainings on wheat cultivation and pest management, including wheat seed cultivation, importance of wheat, selection of wheat seed and wheat seed variety, preparation of bed for wheat seed cultivation, weed & disease control in wheat crop, insect control, livestock and Husbandry practices, and covid19 safety measures.
  • Provision of training for poultry package.
  • Provision of training on the farming tools to the target beneficiaries.
  • Provision of training on the early warning system to the beneficiaries.
  • Distribution of inputs to beneficiaries.
  • Providing weekly activity/process report (beneficiary selection, inputs distribution, and post-distribution survey).

Qualification:

• Understanding the Pashto and Dari Languages.
• Local knowledge of the culture and areas
• Familiarity with working with KoBO application and preliminary Computer programs (Word, Excel)
