Sterilization nurse job description:

  1. Perform sterilization and registration of sterile surgical sets and medical devices.
  2. Pre‐disinfection, cleaning, and disinfection of soiled medical devices.
  3. Check and reassemble the instrument set making sure that it is in good condition.
  4. Proper folding of surgical drapes and gowns according to the protocols.
  5. Responsible for the correct packaging of surgical sets, medical devices, and surgical drapes with double crepe paper.
  6. Ensure that the sterilization and/or high disinfection step‐by‐step process is correctly, followed as indicated by AMA protocol.
  7. Respect the working circuit of dirty, clean, and unsterile within the service.
  8. Proper registration of sterilization circles and devices undergoing high‐level disinfection.
  9. Identify each sterilized pack according to the respective wards/departments in the register book.
  10. Proper storage and management of sterilized/highly disinfected services.
  11. Proper cleaning and disinfection of working equipment and surface at the end of the shift.
  12. Supervise the cleanliness of the sterilization room and surroundings.
  13. Run monthly inventory of equipment and materials and timely fill up the monthly order request.
  14. Guarantee the strict complaints of standard precautions.
  15. Respect general rules in the sterilization room.
  16. Respect for soiled medical devices and instruments.
  17. Check and reassemble the instrument sets and medical devices according to the pre‐established standard list.
  18. Replace defective instrument.
  19. Organize the storage and distribution of sterilized materials.
  20. Give regular feedback to the line manager and report directly any issue or incident.

Job Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Registered Nursing , Bachelor degree is preferred
  2. Two‐year experience in similar position desirable
  3. Good communication skill both in writing and oral in Dari/Pashtu essential
  4. Communication skill in English oral and written desirable
  5. Ability to communicate clearly and work well with others in a team environment
