OT Assistant

The OT Assistant is responsible for supporting the surgical team in ensuring a safe, clean, and well-prepared operating theatre environment. The role involves assisting before, during, and after surgical procedures, maintaining sterilization standards, and ensuring smooth workflow within the operation theatre.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare the operation theatre and ensure all instruments and materials are sterile and ready before procedures
• Assist the surgical team during operations by providing instruments and supporting equipment needs
• Maintain a sterile environment and follow infection control protocols at all times
• Support patient preparation, positioning, and safe transfer before and after surgery
• Clean and disinfect the operation theatre and equipment after procedures
• Dispose of medical waste according to hospital safety guidelines
• Restock supplies and prepare the theatre for upcoming procedures
• Maintain overall cleanliness and organization of the OT
• Handle patients safely and respectfully at all times
• Report any equipment issues or shortages to the supervisor

Qualifications & Requirements

• Diploma, certificate, or relevant educational degree in OTT, Nursing Assistant, or related healthcare field preferred
• Relevant OT/surgical assistance training or hospital experience is an advantage
• Basic knowledge of infection prevention and control (IPC)

Skills & Competencies

• Knowledge of surgical procedures and sterilization techniques
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Strong teamwork, communication, and attention to detail
• Physically fit for patient handling and long standing hours
