About the Project:

Upon successful approval of the project proposal by UNDP, REHA Organization will proceed with the implementation of the Community-based Climate-Responsive Livelihoods and Forestry (CCLF) Project in Keshm District of Badakhshan Province. The project is designed to strengthen the resilience of rural communities to climate change through an integrated package of community mobilization, climate-responsive planning, resilient livelihoods, small-scale infrastructure, and restoration of natural resources, forestry and rangeland ecosystems. Afghanistan remains highly vulnerable to droughts, flash floods, soil erosion, watershed degradation, declining vegetation cover and reduced agricultural productivity. The CCLF implementation phase will support climate-resilient livelihoods, community infrastructure, forestry and rangeland management, with strong attention to community engagement, gender inclusion, social and environmental safeguards, monitoring, documentation and coordination with relevant stakeholders in Keshm District of Badakhshan Province.

Job Description

Position Summary:

Upon successful approval of the project proposal by UNDP, the Veterinary Technician will support livestock-related livelihood activities, animal health services, technical demonstrations and field follow-up under the CCLF project in Keshm District of Badakhshan Province. The position will contribute to improved livestock productivity, household resilience and community-level animal health awareness.

Key Responsibilities:

1.       Livestock and Animal Health Support

·       Provide field-level technical support for livestock-related livelihood activities and animal health services.

·       Assist beneficiaries with basic livestock care, disease prevention, feeding practices and animal health awareness.

·       Support identification of livestock health risks and practical mitigation measures in target communities.

2.       Community Training and Awareness

·       Conduct awareness sessions and practical demonstrations on animal health, hygiene, feeding and climate-resilient livestock practices.

·       Support inclusive participation of livestock owners, women and vulnerable households in relevant training activities.

·       Prepare simple technical messages and guidance for community-level livestock support.

3.       Field Monitoring and Documentation

·       Conduct field visits to monitor livestock support activities and beneficiary progress.

·       Document animal health issues, field observations, beneficiary feedback and follow-up needs.

·       Support collection of attendance sheets, photos and monitoring evidence for project reporting.

4.       Coordination and Technical Follow-up

·       Coordinate with the Livelihoods Specialist, livelihood trainers, community mobilizers and local stakeholders.

·       Refer complex veterinary cases to relevant authorities or qualified service providers where required.

·       Support integration of livestock activities with broader livelihood and resilience interventions.

Key Deliverables:

·       Livestock and animal health support provided to target beneficiaries.

·       Community awareness and practical training sessions conducted and documented.

·       Field monitoring visits completed and livestock-related issues recorded.

·       Beneficiary feedback, photos and evidence collected for reporting.

·       Coordination maintained with technical teams and relevant local stakeholders.

Job Requirements

·       Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Science or a related field.

·       Minimum 3 years of experience in livestock support and animal health services.

·       Practical knowledge of animal health, livestock management, disease prevention and community-based livestock support.

·       Experience delivering awareness sessions or field demonstrations for livestock owners is preferred.

·       Ability to work with rural communities and support inclusive beneficiary engagement.

·       Good field reporting, coordination and documentation skills.

·       Fluency in Pashto and Dari is required; English skills are an asset.
