ActionAid started its activities in Afghanistan in 2002 and was registered in Ministry of Economy of Afghanistan as non-governmental international organization “INGO”.
ActionAid-Afghanistan committed itself a long-term work with poor and excluded sections of the society through the Human Rights Based Development Approach, WASH, and livelihood programs in multiple provinces of Afghanistan.
The position exists to ensure programme development and delivery on of ActionAid’s Women’s Rights programme in Afghanistan. S/he will operationalize Gender Justice strategies and Programming guidelines, in line with the local cultural context in Afghanistan through partnership, alliance building and advocacy initiatives. S/he shall provide leadership in cross-learning and knowledge generation for thematic alignment in relation to inclusive programme development and delivery in ActionAid Afghanistan.
S/he is expected to manage colleagues/team recruited to projects under this thematic area as appropriate to the role. And work closely with members in the Afghanistan team, colleagues across division and wider organisation, adapt to changing priorities, also lead the organizational work on Women’s Forum and promote Feminist principles in Afghanistan.

Education & Training:
Bachelor’s degree in social science/international law, development studies or rural development a development related field is required.
Training certificates in disaster management, emergency responses are strong assets for the role.

1. Familiar with Women’ Rights, Protection and GBV issues in the country as well as global priorities.
