Job Description
As part of our strategic expansion into the pharmaceutical sector in Afghanistan, we are seeking a highly experienced Pharmacy Advisor to guide the establishment and growth of our pharmaceutical import and distribution operations. This role will play a critical part in ensuring compliance with national regulations, aligning product selection with local healthcare needs, and building a sustainable pharmaceutical business within the country.
The successful candidate will act as a key advisor to senior leadership, providing expert insights into regulatory requirements, market dynamics, and pharmaceutical best practices in Afghanistan.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert guidance on pharmaceutical products, including therapeutic use, safety, and suitability for the Afghan market.
- Advise on compliance with regulations set by the Ministry of Public Health and the Deputy Ministry for Food and Drug Affairs of Afghanistan.
- Support the company in obtaining import licenses, product registration, and ensuring compliance with national drug laws and guidelines.
- Guide product selection based on local disease burden, healthcare demand, and essential medicines lists in Afghanistan.
- Evaluate and collaborate with international pharmaceutical manufacturers and suppliers to ensure quality, authenticity, and compliance with global standards (e.g., WHO-MoPH).
- Advise on supply chain and distribution strategies, including storage, cold chain requirements, and logistics within Afghanistan.
- Conduct market analysis to identify opportunities, pricing strategies, and potential risks in the local pharmaceutical sector.
- Train internal teams on pharmaceutical regulations, ethical practices, pharmacovigilance, and product knowledge.
- Monitor updates in Afghan pharmaceutical regulations, import policies, and global pharmaceutical trends.
- Support the development of the company’s pharmaceutical brand, ensuring trust, credibility, and compliance in the local market.
Job Requirements
- Pharmacy Degree, Bachelor’s degree or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from a recognized institution.
- Valid registration with the Afghanistan Pharmacy Council (or eligibility to obtain registration).
- Minimum of 5–10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical sector, preferably in importation, distribution, or regulatory affairs within Afghanistan or similar markets.
- Strong understanding of Afghan pharmaceutical laws, drug registration processes, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Experience working with international suppliers and knowledge of global pharmaceutical standards (WHO, FDA, EMA is an advantage).
- Proven ability to advise senior management and contribute to strategic planning.
- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Fluency in English and local languages (Dari and/or Pashto) is highly preferred.
- High level of integrity and commitment to ethical pharmaceutical practices.
