Job Description
Overall Responsibilities:
Responsible for quality implementation of Child Protection (CP) activities in field sites—ensuring strong community-based protection mechanisms, safe referrals/case management, and timely support for children affected by risks including violence, abuse, exploitation, and violations of child rights.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments of existing child protection services and gaps in the target community/districts to inform CP response planning.
- Conduct information outreach within the community to increase awareness of available child protection services and referral pathways.
- Facilitate monthly coordination meetings with CBCPCs to review protection concerns, referrals, community feedback, and prioritize follow-up actions.
- Conduct community dialogues to identify protection issues, at-risk children, and barriers to service access (including disability-related barriers).
- Provide technical oversight for operationalization of child protection infrastructure, including renovation/rehabilitation support for Child Care Center (CCCs) and related assets.
- Coordinate with relevant teams to ensure continuity and sustainability planning for CCCs in earthquake response covered districts.
- Support establishment and functioning of Child Care Centers (CCCs), including static and mobile/home-based CCC models.
- Coordinate distribution and monitoring of children’s kits linked to CCCs, including:
- Educational/School kits (static + home-based CCCs)
- Recreational kits for CCCs
- Support the running/operation of CCCs, including child meals/snacks (e.g., biscuits/cake for registered children in CCCs—static + mobile), ensuring adherence to child safeguarding and accountability standards.
- Ensure child safeguarding measures across CCC activities, including collaboration with/inputs to the Safeguarding Officer role and implementation of safeguarding/incident reporting procedures.
- Support delivery of positive parenting sessions for parents/caregivers of children registered in CCCs (including refreshment provision as per project plan).
- Training CBCPCs on continuity of CP services
- Oversee quality implementation of case management approaches for children and SoV-related referrals, working closely with Child Protection technical and case management staff, ensuring CPIMS+ entries.
- Identification, referral, and follow-up of protection cases (high and medium risk children), ensuring that cash-for-protection assistance is implemented with correct safeguarding and compliance procedures
- Coordinate with the Child Protection Supervisor to ensure equitable, gender-sensitive CP supervision and quality of field implementation across old districts and response districts.
- Participate in staff induction and child protection orientation activities (including the two-day project induction workshop), ensuring CP standards and safeguarding expectations are clearly understood and applied.
- Maintain confidentiality of all child-related information and ensure data sharing is on a need-to-know basis in line with child safeguarding and case management requirements.
- Ensure CP activities are implemented in line with AWUDO safeguarding policies and escalation/reporting requirements.
- Represent the project/AWUDO at community level as needed (e.g., coordination meetings), and support engagement with local authorities and stakeholders when necessary.
- Perform any other functions related to Child Protection activities and initiatives assigned by the line manager.
Job Requirements
Background/Qualifications:
- 12th Grade (High School Diploma) or bachelor degree in social science, a Bachelor degree holder is preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in child protection field level interventions with a National/International NGO or UN organization.
- Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of child protection in emergencies, GBV prevention, and child rights.
Note: The Couple candidates must be local resident of Kunar province, candidates from other provinces will not be shortlisted.
Skills Required:
- Fluency in local languages, Pashto (spoken and written).
- Primary knowledge of English Language.
- Advanced computer skills (MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook).
- Strong communication and reporting skills.
