Job Description

CARE’s portfolio consists of humanitarian, response and recovery projects active in seven provinces across Afghanistan. In order to support production of communication, infographics and high quality photography and professional videography (filming and editing), to fulfill donor visibility requirements, the Communications Specialist will be working closely with the CARE Afghanistan team and deliver quality communications and support the production of advocacy materials.

The overall purpose of the position is to produce high quality communications products, with a strong focus on professional photography and videography, including filming and editing, for use across the CARE global network.

  1. Key Results Expected:
  • Accompany CARE during filed missions in order to support production of content and high quality photography and videography (filming and editing), and communications outputs for the media and for internal use as needed, to keep external stakeholders effectively informed and engaged
  • Contribute photos for CAE Afghanistan programmes for photo and video archive, for all sectors and locations, ensuring adequate quality of photo and video products, including filming and editing, for use in advocacy and media work and for quality reporting purposes.
  • Travel to the project site for collection of success stories, photos and videos and assist in collecting testimonies and case studies from the field as required
  • Ensure implementation of visibility and branding commitments for all projects based on contractual obligations monthly
  • Support the development and delivery of communications materials in preparation for, during and after emergencies, including supporting response teams to receive, compile, and distribute relevant emergency response information in a timely manner
  • Assist in collecting testimonies and case studies from the field as required,
  • Develop communications materials for all project such as: audio/visual materials including documentaries, video clips, photos, brochures, flyers, banners, poster etc.
  • Ensure effective and adequate documentation of lessons learned, case studies and stories.
  • Assists project team in translation of documents
  • Any other tasks as needed by the CARE Country Director and Senior Management

Job Requirements

  1. Core Competencies:

Excellent photography and videography skills, including use of professional equipment for high quality photo and video production and editing; strong visual storytelling and design sense; clear written and visual communication; ability to highlight key community stories; willingness to work in the field with diverse communities and cultures; ability to operate in complex environments; strong presentation skills; solid understanding of media. 

Skills and Experience:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent writing skills in English, Dari, and Pashtu
  • Excellent computer skills especially in Word, excel and media programs
  • Excellent computer skills of adobe audition, and adobe premiere, after affects, 3D Mix, office package, CorelDraw and Photoshop and any other media and communications technologies and software.

 

Education:

Work Experience:

At least  4 to 5  years of work experiences in program/communication and media program, donor relations, media and communications designing, reporting.

 

Languages Skills:

Fluency in written and spoken English, Dari and Pushto languages
