Afghan Peace Builders Humanitarian Organization APBHO has emerged as a non-governmental, non-political, not-for-profit organization in April 2019 with its long experience as a team (Youth Council) advocating for the rights of communities especially children and women affected by conflicts, and humanitarian crisis in fragile settings.
Most of APBHO’s peacebuilding efforts focus on community-based conflict resolution and environmental peace-building on grass-root level. APBHO aims to shift repressive gender norms and equip citizens with the skills to resolve any type of differences and conflicts non-violently.

Job Description
Job Summary:
The TVET Carpet Weaving Trainer is responsible for delivering high-quality theoretical and practical training, ensuring trainees gain the necessary skills to produce marketable carpets and improve their income opportunities.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensure adherence with APBHO policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
- Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
- Promote and share ideas for technical improvement
- Ensure proper filing of documents
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct practical and theoretical training on carpet weaving techniques and teach different styles (traditional, modern, local designs).
- Demonstrate use of tools (loom, knives, scissors, etc.) and ensure trainees understand safety procedures during weaving.
- The Vocational Training trainer should prepare the training plan and conduct the training based on the approved plan.
- Guide trainees step-by-step in weaving carpets and support trainees in pattern reading and color matching.
- Conduct regular tests (practical and theory), evaluate quality of woven carpets and provide feedback and identify areas for improvement.
- Maintain discipline, ensure a positive learning environment, promote proper use and care of equipment and materials, and manage time effectively during training sessions.
- Manage raw materials to prevent waste and misuse of materials.
- Keep daily attendance and leave record of the trainees.
- Maintain the proper inventory of the things handed over to the trainer/center.
- Teach basic marketing and pricing of carpets and guide trainees on starting small businesses or home-based work.
- Ensure safe and respectful training environment for all to encourage participation of women and vulnerable groups.
- Maintain proper coordinate with project relevant staff.
- Submit weekly reports to the snr. livelihood project officer.
- Responsible for the vocational training project's overall success.
- Perform any other duties and responsibilities assigned by the snr. livelihood project officer to support the effective implementation of project activities.
Job Requirements
- Minimum Diploma/ certificate in carpet weaving.
- Minimum two years’ experience in teaching in carpet weaving.
- Prior experience in training with INGO/NGO.

- Ability to work independently
- Strong practical skills in carpet weaving
- Good communication and teaching skills
- Patience and ability to work with vulnerable communities
- Time management and organizational skills
- Basic literacy (reading and writing skills required)
- Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to vocational instruction and ethical behaviors.
