Coordination of Humanitarian Assistance (CHA) is a non-governmental, non-profitable, and non-political Afghan NGO, working since 1987 mainly in agriculture, health, education, and infrastructure sectors in more vulnerable areas of the country. CHA is working through the implementation of Emergency, rehabilitation, and development projects for emergency aid for war, famine, and natural disaster-affected families in the field, to assist with the rehabilitation of rural and urban life, and to work with communities for sustainable development in Afghanistan.

Job Description

1. Job Summary The Physiotherapist is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients with physical impairments, disabilities, or functional limitations resulting from injury, disease, congenital conditions, or aging. The Physiotherapist provides rehabilitation services to improve mobility, reduce pain, prevent disability, and enhance quality of life. The position contributes to Disability and Physical Rehabilitation Services, one of the BPHS components, and supports integration with MNH, trauma care, NCDs, and community-based rehabilitation (CBR).

2. Key Responsibilities: A. Clinical Services • Assess patients’ physical condition, functional limitations, and rehabilitation needs.

• Develop individualized physiotherapy treatment plans.

• Provide therapy for: o Musculoskeletal injuries (fractures, back pain, joint pain) o Neurological conditions (stroke, spinal cord injury, cerebral palsy) o Post-surgical rehabilitation o Burns and trauma recovery o Disability and congenital deformities o Elderly mobility limitations • Apply therapeutic techniques: o Exercise therapy o Manual therapy o Heat and cold therapy o Stretching and strengthening exercises

• Provide assistive device training (crutches, walkers, wheelchairs).

• Educate patients and caregivers on home-based exercises. B. Rehabilitation & Disability Services • Support early identification of disability cases.

• Refer complicated cases to higher rehabilitation centers.

• Participate in disability assessment and follow-up. C. Coordination & Referral

• Work closely with: o Doctors o Nurses o Midwives o Surgeons/Specialists o Mental health staff

• Participate in multidisciplinary case management.

• Ensure proper referral documentation. D. Documentation & Reporting • Maintain patient records and physiotherapy register.

• Report service statistics monthly (HMIS).

• Document treatment progress and outcomes.

• Ensure confidentiality of patient information. E. Health Education & Awareness

• Provide health education on: o Injury prevention o Posture correction o Exercise importance o Disability prevention

• Support awareness sessions in community. F. Quality Assurance

• Follow national clinical guidelines and protocols.

• Ensure infection prevention and control (IPC) standards.

• Participate in supportive supervision and quality improvement activities.

Job Requirements

Experience

• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience preferred.

• Experience in BPHS/EPHS or NGO health projects is an advantage. Skills
