About Organization of Human Welfare (OHW)

The Organization of Human Welfare (OHW) is a non-governmental organization (NGO) and is non-political, not-for-profit, and impartial organization with no bias towards a particular religion, ethnicity, or political belief. It has its own independent legal status and entity. OHW is registered with the Ministry of Economy in Kabul, Afghanistan (Registration No: 1014) and is a member of South West Afghanistan and Baluchistan Agency for Coordination (SWABAC), the coordinating body for NGOs in southern Afghanistan. The Managing Director of OHW also formally represents SWABAC in coordination meetings at the national level.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, design, and oversee implementation of water conservation and watershed management activities in the project areas.
  • Prepare technical designs, drawings, BoQs (Bill of Quantities), and cost estimates for infrastructure such as check dams, canals, and trench systems.
  • Supervise construction works including check dams, canal development, and excavation of trenches to ensure quality and compliance with technical standards.
  • Conduct site assessments, surveys, and feasibility studies to identify suitable locations for interventions.
  • Ensure proper use of materials, tools, and construction techniques in line with project guidelines.
  • Monitor daily field activities and provide technical guidance to field staff, contractors, and community workers.
  • Ensure that all activities are implemented according to approved designs, timelines, and safety standards.
  • Coordinate with project team members, local authorities, and community stakeholders for smooth implementation.
  • Support community mobilization by explaining technical aspects of the project and promoting participation.
  • Prepare progress reports, site reports, and technical documentation on regular basis.
  • Conduct quality control checks and certify completed works before final approval.
  • Identify technical challenges and propose practical solutions during project implementation.
  • Ensure environmental considerations and sustainability principles are integrated into all interventions.
  • Provide on-the-job training and capacity building to field staff and beneficiaries when required.

Job Requirements

Bachelor or Master degree from Engineering Faculty. 
Minimum of 4-5 years of relevant experience.
Good conceptual thinking skills and an ability to develop diverse and innovative solutions to problems.
Good understanding of project planning and management cycles and experience of developing quality project report and other documents.
Good team building and communication skills.

Strong technical knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations.

Proficiency in relevant software, such as ETABS, AutoCAD, MS Project, and video editing tools.

Fluency in spoken Pashto, Dari and English is required.
