About Organization of Human Welfare (OHW)

The Organization of Human Welfare (OHW) is a non-governmental organization (NGO) and is non-political, not-for-profit, and impartial organization with no bias towards a particular religion, ethnicity, or political belief. It has its own independent legal status and entity. OHW is registered with the Ministry of Economy in Kabul, Afghanistan (Registration No: 1014) and is a member of South West Afghanistan and Baluchistan Agency for Coordination (SWABAC), the coordinating body for NGOs in southern Afghanistan. The Managing Director of OHW also formally represents SWABAC in coordination meetings at the national level.

Job Description

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide animal health services, including diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of livestock diseases.
  • Conduct regular vaccination campaigns and deworming programs for livestock.
  • Train beneficiary households on improved livestock management practices, including feeding, housing, breeding, and hygiene.
  • Provide technical guidance on dairy production, animal nutrition, and herd management.
  • Monitor livestock conditions in the field and provide follow-up support to beneficiaries.
  • Coordinate with Veterinary Field Units (VFUs) and local authorities (e.g., DAIL) to ensure effective service delivery.
  • Support the establishment of linkages between farmers and veterinary services, markets, and extension systems.
  • Identify and respond to livestock disease outbreaks and report cases to relevant authorities.
  • Assist in the distribution of livestock packages (animals, feed, veterinary kits) and ensure proper utilization.
  • Maintain accurate records of treatments, vaccinations, and field activities.
  • Prepare regular technical and progress reports on livestock interventions.
  • Assist other departments with field-level support tasks as required.
  • Regular reporting to project manager or direct supervisor.

Job Requirements

  • Graduated from Veterinary Science or Agriculture faculty.
  • At least 3-4 years of experience in related field.
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills.
  • Knowledge of training and experiences of training in the same field 3-4 years
  • Be able to work in isolated areas with low facilities and travel by long walk between the target villages.
  • Effective member of team and role model; demonstrates creativity in seeking better ways to do things and shares with team, and promotes high standards.
  • Anticipates problems and regularly provides solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Fluency in Pashto, Dari and knowledge of English is an advantage.
