Job Description
Job Purpose:
The Livestock Extension Worker supports livestock farmers by providing technical guidance, training, and field-level assistance to improve animal health, productivity, and climate-resilient livestock management practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide regular extension services to livestock farmers at the community level.
- Conduct farmer group training on improved livestock production practices.
- Support vaccination & Deworming campaigns and animal health awareness activities.
- Assist in distribution of livestock inputs (e.g., mineral blocks, fodder seed, medicines, churning Machine, Cheese Plate, Qroot box ).
- Collect field data and prepare monthly activity reports.
- Identify livestock diseases and report outbreaks to supervisors.
- Promote improved feeding, breeding, and hygiene practices.
- Support women and youth participation in livestock-related activities.
Job Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Science, Animal Science.
- At least 3–5 years of experience in livestock extension or community-based projects.
- Basic knowledge of animal health and livestock production systems.
- Ability to work with rural communities and farmer groups.
Required Skills:
- Good communication and training skills.
- Ability to travel frequently to field locations.
- Basic reporting and documentation skills.
- Teamwork and problem-solving ability.
- Familiarity with local languages (Dari/Pashto).
