About Afghan Family Guidance Association |AFGA

Afghan Family Guidance Association (AFGA) is an Afghan non-governmental, not-for-profit and non-political organization established in 1968. AFGA has been working in the field of Reproductive health and Rights since its inception and has recently become an associate member of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF).

AFGA activities were suspended due to war and conflict in the country for ten years (1992-2002) and resumed its activities in 2002 with financial support from International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF).

IPPF is an alliance of 151 family planning associations known as Member Associations which has projects in over 180 countries. IPPF continues to be the largest civil society provider of reproductive health information and services in the world

Job Description

Position Summary:

The Social Media Intern should manage the AFGA Mother and Newborn Hospital (MNH) social media platforms, creating engaging content (written, graphics, and producing short videos and photos). The intern will help enhance the hospital’s digital marketing, engage with the audience, and maintain a consistent posting schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Social Media Management

  • Manage the hospital’s social media pages (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn).
  • Schedule, prepare and publish 2–3 high-quality posts per day after the MNH’s Management's and Communication Manager’s approval)
  • Monitor audience engagement, respond to comments/messages, and report insights.

2. Content Creation

  • Prepare visually appealing posts (text, images, graphics) aligned with the hospital’s brand.
  • Record and edit short videos about hospital facilities, services, staff, clients and etc.
  • Assist the Communication manager and the MNH management in hospital marketing and promotion campaigns.

3. Collaboration & Reporting

  • Work closely with the hospital management team and the Communication Department to maintain consistent messaging.
  • Track performance metrics (likes, shares, reach) and suggest improvements.
  • Maintain a content calendar for posts and videos.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports and action plans.

Job Requirements

Educational Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing or recently graduated from Journalism, Communications, Digital Marketing, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of social media trends, digital content, and basic marketing principles.

Technical Skills:

  • Familiarity with social media platforms: Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc.
  • Ability to create graphics using tools like Canva, Photoshop, or similar.
  • Ability to record and edit short videos for social media.
  • Basic understanding of content planning and social media analytics.
  • Good written and spoken skills in Dari, Pushto, and English.
  • Creative, proactive, and detail-oriented.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to maintain daily posting schedules.
