About TLO
The Liaison Office (TLO) founded in 2003 as an Afghan non-governmental organization (NGO) that emerged from a Swisspeace pilot project (supported by the Heinrich Böll Stiftung) with the aim of improving local governance, stability, and security through systematic and institutionalized engagement with customary structures, local communities, civil society groups, and government institutions. TLO is based in Kabul, with regional offices in Paktia, Khost, Paktika, Herat, Ghazni, Farah, Samangan, Balkh, Nangarhar, Maidan wardak and Baghlan and additional field offices across Afghanistan. TLO works to achieve its objectives through key program activities: research and analysis, dialogue facilitation for peacebuilding, access to justice and governance, humanitarian assistance, third party monitoring and evaluation, and environment & natural resources management.
Job Description
- Support the Agriculture Officer in planning and implementation of planned interventions at the provincial and community levels.
- Support the Agriculture Officer on coordination of project activities with relevant stakeholders at district and community levels.
- Support the Agriculture Officer on community consultation, development of new sub-project concept and technical proposals,
- Support the Agriculture Officer on conducting assessments and studies planned in PREVALE project, Paktika province.
- Support the Agriculture Officer on planning & development related to agriculture and horticulture project management as per technical requirements.
- Support the Agriculture Officer on beneficiary selection for agriculture subproject in targeted areas
- Support the Agriculture Officer on organizing demonstration plots (cereal crops, forage crops, vegetable and orchards).
- Support the Agriculture Officer on relevant technical trainings to farmers in Farmers’ Field School (FFS), Common Interest Group (CIG) including: selection of improved varieties, proper site selection, land preparation, cultivation methods, inter-cropping, proper irrigation system, disease and pest management of the planned agricultural interventions.
- Actively participate in the internal annual review of the PREVALE Program.
- Provide and submit the activity progress report to agriculture officer.
- Any other tasks assigned by line manager.
Job Requirements
- Two to three (2-3) years of experience in the related field, and experience in working with communities and Monitoring and evaluations of the Agriculture projects.
- University degree in Agriculture or other relevant academic disciplines
- Very good and excellent Pashto and Dari (spoken and written)
- Good skills in MS Office Package and Internet applications
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with local communities and project team.
- Punctual and hardworking, desire to meet deadlines and serve rural communities.
- Regular trips to targeted districts and villages
