Job Descriptions:

Regular Responsibilities

  1. Regular Responsibilities:
  • Foster clinically safe environment through infection control practices by using scientific knowledge.
  • Perform daily round of critical care units to ensure infection control practices are followed in critical care areas.
  • Perform the surveillance of health care associated infections and report on monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Develop and implement infection control policies, procedures and protocols for maintaining the international standards of care.
  • Implement annual as well as monthly training plans according to annual budgets and timeframes.
  • Conduct staff education and IC certification courses through formal training on monthly basis and conduct in-service sessions.
  • Develop plan for audits of infection control standards and participate in the follow up of audit recommendations.
  • Actively participate in environmental round, generate reports and conduct follow up audits.
  • Facilitate other areas such food services, laundry, housekeeping department etc to strengthen infection control practices in their areas.
  • Discuss significant infection control issues with the infection control committee and identify solutions to resolve such issues.
  • Monitor completion of infection control surveillance data (phlebitis form, needle stick injury VAP, BSI, SSI and UTI) and make sure the accurate record.

 

 

  1. Periodic Responsibilities:
  • Develop and update goals and objectives and quality plan of infection control program
  • Monitor and update the IC indicators.
  • Initiate the quality improvement projects along with the team.
  • Participate in internal quality audits and follow-up on findings. 
  • Participate in different ongoing meetings of infection control and any other related JCIA topics.
  • Participate in departmental/divisional preparation activities for JCIA and ISO audits.
  • Any other task assigned by administrator, quality and patient safety.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Nursing diploma from a recognized institute/ university.
  • Bachelor degree in nursing or midwifery. 
  • Master’s degree holder will be preferred.

 

Work experience:

  • At least three years of quality and patient safety related experience.

 

Knowledge, competencies and attributes:

  • Basic life support (BLS) Certified
  • Advance Cardiac Life Support Certified
  • Infection control training/modules certification online CDC/ WHO or AKUH
  • Ability to organize workload and identify priorities appropriately.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with team members.
  • Ability to cope with stressful situations.
  • Model the mission and values of the institution.
  • Good negotiation and decision-making skills
  • Good thinking and problem-solving skill
  • Self-motivated and able to work unsupervised and on own initiative
  • Excellent English & computer skills especially MS Office
  • Be motivated towards learning and capacity development.
  • Make responsible decisions that result in time and cost containment to the institution and customers and clear accountability.
  • Travel within or outside the country for short/long term training/mission when needed.
  • Represent positive image of FMIC via professional appearance and behavior.
  • Raise MSR of materials needed for the department.
