Position Summary

The Industrial Electrical Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems, machinery, and automation equipment used in industrial facilities. The technician ensures equipment reliability, supports continuous production, and maintains safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Electrical Installation & Maintenance

Install, inspect, and maintain electrical wiring, circuits, motors, and control systems.

Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on industrial equipment.

Assemble, install, and test electrical panels, transformers, VFDs, and distribution equipment.

2. Troubleshooting & Repair

Diagnose electrical issues using testing equipment such as multimeters, clamp meters, and oscilloscopes.

Repair electrical faults in machines, control circuits, motors, and automation devices.

Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns to minimize downtime.

3. Automation & Control Systems

Operate and maintain PLC systems, sensors, relays, and automation components.

Assist in programming or adjusting control systems where necessary.

Support installation and commissioning of new machinery.

4. Safety & Compliance

Follow electrical safety standards, lock-out/tag-out procedures, and company safety policies.

Ensure all equipment complies with national electrical codes and industrial standards.

Maintain accurate documentation of repairs, inspections, and maintenance work.

5. Collaboration & Support

Work closely with mechanical technicians, production supervisors, and engineers.

Provide electrical support during equipment upgrades or plant expansions.

Suggest improvements to enhance equipment reliability and efficiency.

Required Qualifications

Education

Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Electricity, Mechatronics, or related field.

Experience

2–5 years of experience in industrial electrical maintenance or manufacturing environment.

Technical Skills

Strong knowledge of:

Three-phase power systems

Industrial motors & drives

PLCs, relays, sensors

Electrical control panels

VFDs & motor control circuits

Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and industrial wiring diagrams.

Skilled in using electrical tools, hand tools, and diagnostic instruments.

Soft Skills

Strong problem-solving abilities.

Ability to work under pressure and handle emergency breakdowns.

Teamwork, communication skills, and attention to detail.

Preferred Skills (Optional)

Experience with SCADA or automation systems.

Knowledge of electrical codes and standards.

Certifications in industrial maintenance or safety.

Working Conditions

Industrial/factory environment.

Exposure to machinery noise, heat, and industrial equipment.
