About Turquoise Mountain
Turquoise Mountain is a non-profit, non-governmental organization specializing in urban regeneration, business development, and education in traditional arts and architecture. We seek to provide education, skills and livelihoods to Afghan men and women. Since 2006 Turquoise Mountain has cleared 36,000 cubic meters of rubbish from the streets, restored or built 150 historic and community buildings, created a primary school and a clinic, and installed water, electricity, and sanitation through the historic traditional craft neighborhood of Murad Khani in the old city of Kabul. It has created the internationally accredited Institute for Afghan Arts & Architecture, training the next generation of craftsmen and women in woodwork, jewelry and gem cutting, calligraphy and miniature painting, and ceramics. Finally, it has sold over US$15,000,000 of Afghan artisan products internationally.
Job Description
Purpose of the Internship
The intern will support the jewellery team in commercial orders, jewellery sampling works, liaising with artisans, stock management, packing, and completing related paperwork. The role provides hands-on experience in artisan coordination, jewellery sampling workflows, quality control, and operational support.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate jewellery sampling communication with artisans.
- Ensure samples are properly received, documented, and tracked.
- Assist in packing jewellery commercial orders and samples.
- Prepare and process paperwork such as PRFs, GRNs, and other required documents.
- Support the team in quality control checks as needed.
- Perform other BD support tasks as assigned.
Expected Deliverables
- Accurate and updated sample tracking and stock records
- Timely follow-up with the artisans and completion of PRFs and related paperwork
- Well-organized and accessible sampling documentation
- Consistent support for quality control activities
Job Requirements
- Suitable for recent Jewelry graduates with basic familiarity with jewelry products and production, vocational training or practical experience in jewelry is an advantage.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Interest in business operations, artisan supply chains, or craft enterprises
- Good communication skills
- Basic Excel/Google Sheets skills preferred
